4.0 out of 5 stars remarkably easier to use, but a tad flimsy
If you're looking for a great light shovel for the front stoop, this is your baby. However, right from the outset, it's apparent that it's not built for heavy duty use. The blade is not tight to the shaft and wiggles slightly in use. However, you can't beat the price, and the design is clearly easier to use. I recommend it for light clearing work, but don't expect to...

3.0 out of 5 stars OK, but not great
This is a decent snow shovel for light duty clean-up, but can't take a beating. The handle connects with a plastic clip device, so after a little bit of use the connection gets a bit sloppy so that a heavier load of snow makes the shovel pan twist and move a bit...this motion is annoying and makes handling the load all that much more work. I am glad I have it in my snow...

I am glad I have it in my snow removal arsenal, but I am in the market for a REAL metal coal shovel for heavier duty work.

When I found out that it was going to snow another two feet in DC I decided to get a larger snow shovel. I had a smaller, folding shovel, but the handle was very short and I really hurt my lower back during the last two footer. The problem was that there were none to be found in any of the stores around here. I decided to look on Amazon and found this one. The overnight shipping was worth it because my shovel was the envy of the apartment complex. I went for this one because the head was a bit smaller than the others Erapro sold. I knew that I'd be shoveling by myself and didn't want to strain my back. The smaller head made sure that I didn't pick up too much of the heavy, wet snow at a time, yet still held plenty of the white stuff. The sides kept the snow in as I walked it to the pile that I was making. With its longer handle I didn't have to bend down so my lower back wasn't killing me. In the end this shovel was able to make it through over two feet of snow and still held together even though it is lightweight. When I was done a neighbor borrowed it to help shovel others out and I made a friend for life. Even after digging out around 10 or so cars it still kept working. If you're expecting a lot of snow this shovel is worth its weight in gold.

4.0 out of 5 stars Best I've found so far!, April 23, 2011

I'm getting older and if I have to shovel snow this is the way I want to do it! But finding a shovel like the Erapro is both dissapointing and frustrating. I've owned a few other manufactures ergo small blade shovels and one year even bought one for myself, work and a friend, from a big box store. All three didn't even last 2 or 3 snow storms before snapping where the handle meets the blade, just to much stress, from a poor design. Unfortunately, when I tried to return them, I was told they were broken, DUH! This big box store doesn't even sell this type of shovel anymore.
Well, I searched through Amazon's listing of snow shovels last year and found the Erapro HD-2EA. I liked the design of the blade over other manufacturers because I believed they addressed the stress issue better. I had to take a chance, so I ordered one. I actually ordered 2, the other was a straight handled Erapro but with a metal wear strip mounted on the blade. I was going to swap the blades to make my ideal snow shovel. Unfortunately, Erapro stopped making the other or maybe I ordered to late in the season.
This year we had more snow than we have had in years! The Erapro HD-2EA never snapped but shows the wear from blacktop shoveling and this is my only complaint but the shovel should last a couple more years. So before the season ended I bought 3 more Erapro HD-2EA shovels, another for myself, 1 for my brother-in-law and 1 for a friend. We are ready for next year.
Now, if Erapro doesn't change there blade design, will add a metal wear strip to the blade or find some way to decrease blade wear they will have a 5 star product!

I got it through Amazon last year after all the local hardware stores ran out of snow shovels. Get yours before the first storm.
Well made and very light.

I got this right before the huge snow storms that hit in the winter of 2010. It worked well and saved my back a lot of strain!
