4.0 out of 5 stars Best for Erasure completists.
Erasue is one of my favorite bands, and I own most of their albums. The Ebx2 collection will probably be best appreciated by the most devoted Erasure collectors. Erasue is one of my favorite bands, and I own most of their albums. The Ebx2 collection will probably be best appreciated by the most devoted Erasure collectors. As a collection of singles and remixes this isn't as satisfying a listen as spinning Erasure's full recordings. It includes the standout hits "A Little Respect" and "Chains of Love", but casual fans wanting these songs best should grab THE INNOCENTS or POP! 20 GREAT HITS.

The material on this 5 disc set offers some pleasant surprises. Most notably the live tracks, with outstanding renditions of "Leave Me to Bleed", "Sometimes" and "Who Needs Love Like That". Non Lp tracks also appear, most are wonderful, like the lovely banjo-driven(!) "Don't Suppose" and a danceable remake of the theme from "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly". On the other hand "Love Is Colder Than Death" is dreary and unmoving, and "Zsa Zsa Zsa Gabor" is a little irritating. The remixes vary in quality too, the best (interestingly enough) are the ones that don't stray far from the original.

I usually don't evaluate a recording's value on it's packaging, but the Ebx2 is one slick work of design: Nice silver outer box with a colorful booklet reproducing the cover art for each single. This alone is worth a star.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Christmas Gifts EVER!, February 7, 2001

I got this and EBX1 as Chirstmas gifts this year. My husband was afraid I wouldn't like them since I normally don't like remixes but OH MY STARS was I surprised! I have been a devoted Erasure fan since Wonderland but never bought any imports or singles because I prefer the originals. BUT: the "Warm Depths" remix of River Deep, Mountain High nearly sent me careening off the road because of my ecstatic bouncing, rocking and jiggling! And all those new songs not available on the original albums (The Soldier's Return, Don't Suppose, Like Zsa Zsa Zsa Gabor, etc.) were little precious gifts to me! I can't get enough of these two box sets! You MUST have these if you are to be a TRUE connoisseur of Erasure!

4.0 out of 5 stars an erasure box set - its about time., March 3, 2000

after a long wait, an erasure box set which contains a wonderful amount of music for the money. singles that are hard to get, though would've been nice to see more unreleased pieces.

the packaging is incredible - and true-erasure. this collection is more for the collector, although you'll probably have most of these tracks on all of those CD5s you have.

buy it here - you're not going to find this anywhere else, trust me, i've looked.

4.0 out of 5 stars ALMOST perfect boxed set again..., September 26, 2005
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Erasure 2 / EBX Singles (Audio CD)
Boxed set 2 once again gives us a host of Erasure singles with mixes that never made it from vinyl to the original individual CD singles for each song. If you're looking to tighten up your Erasure collection, this will just about do it. Here's some notes on what I noticed about this volume:

CD1
1. Victim of Love-FINALLY, the full 7 minute plus extended version is on CD, as well as other mixes not previously on CD
2. Soldier's Return-mixes from the original CD single, plus one extra
3. live track Safety in Numbers is missing from original CD single, but it's on CD2

CD2
1. The Circus-ALL the mixes, including 2 from the vinyl 12"
2. live tracks-a load more than on the original CD single

CD3
ALL around improvement over the 3 track CD single, with 2 extra mixes of Ship of Fools, and short and long versions of River Deep and When I Needed You

CD4
Again, major improvement over the original 3 track single, with 3 mixes of Chains of Love, plus single edits and remixes of Don't Suppose and The Good the Bad and The Ugly

CD5
1. A little respect-extended mix and 7", plus an excellent alternate extended version. Big question is, what happened to the Justin Strauss remixes with a major house feel that used to be played in all the clubs? It should have been here to make this complete. They were only on the US 12", which might explain it.
2. like zsa zsa gabor-3 mixes! Original single only had 1.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic !!, August 3, 2002

This package of singles is fantastic!,This collection of music is on a total of 5 CD's 3 of the CD's have 7 songs per CD and one with 15 songs and one with 10 songs on it making this CD collection having over 3hrs of great music,And 46 songs.

Since 1988 when I heard the cover of The Good, The Bad and the ugly theme I could never find that single, But it is here and it is way COOL!!, And you can dance to it, This collection should be left only to completists,I like Erasure,I have heard the rest of the music on this CD played on the radio, I was only interested in Track The Good and The Bad and the ugly, But the rest I also liked ,So 14 years later I now have it.

The packaging is good and the track listings are only in the booklet, So do not loose the booklet!,The CD's themselves do not have any of the track listings or Lables, Just on the paper covers that they come in have the disk name and CD #

So If you want to expqand your collection of Erasure Then get this Cd and only this CD!

Enjoy!

4.0 out of 5 stars mixed bag, take the risk., April 5, 2003

i have been an erasure fan for some time now. normally i am not a fan of remixes, particularly because with each remix cd one out of the 6 remixes is actually worth listening to. i feel this is the same case with erasure's ebx2, but it is worth it! those few good remixes are AMAZING. take the risk.

4.0 out of 5 stars Buy the EBX2, same thing, but cheapper!, April 8, 2000
This review is from: Erasure 2 / EBX Singles (Audio CD)
EBX II has the same songs.

Finally realeased the classic ERASURE from the 80's on CD. Had the 12" Vinyl of these songs and was looking everywhere for them. Finally for all of ERASURE's fans, we can have "A LITTLE RESPECT", "CHAINS OF LOVE" and VICTIM OF LOVE" on CD. no more scratchy retro 80's remixes..

"Ship of fools is" ... mmmm. ok, I guess. Should have included "SOMETIMES" instead.

The Circus has live versions of their first singles. Great version of "Oh L'amour". Good value for 3 hard-2-find CD singles, 1 CD live, and 1 so so song.

WARNING: These re-mixes sound really dated (totally 80's). Good for listening in your house, but not to be listened on your car with the bass booming. Kinda makes you fell a little queer. Oh well long live the 80's!
