My 11-year-old son loves making things and this robot seemed perfect for him because he had to assemble the robot before playing with it. He was very excited about the camera and sound functions. He bought the robot with his own money.
It arrived fast, and as as advertised. Assembly was tricky. The parts assemble using screws which are sheathed in plastic inserts, and the inserts slide into the plastic parts and hold them together by friction. The plastic is very soft and sometimes deformed when the screws were tightened. This caused a few of the parts to be loose even though the screws were fully tightened. (The holes expanded, decreasing the grip and allowing them to wobble.) One of the inserts broke (the head sheared off, which means you can't tighten the screw through the part). Fortunately there were a few extra inserts included.
He was eventually able to assemble the entire robot with very little help other than the difficulties described above. But we have not been able to operate the robot. It does not come with its own remote control, but instead it requires a bluetooth-function cell phone to operate. Unfortunately my cell phone, while it has bluetooth, was not on the "approved" list (see []). We took a chance that it would still work. The online application downloaded and installed correctly, and the robot beeps to confirm it can connect to the phone. However, we cannot get to the function menu to move and operate the robot. Error message is "application access denied."
My recommendation: read the (online) operation instructions before buying this toy. Make sure you are aware of - and that you have! - what is needed before spending the money.

I just spent 2 hours trying to put the first few pieces together on this robot. The plastic supports for the screws all bend preventing the pieces from coming put together. I even ditched the cheap piece of plastic they provided to "help" put it togther and used an allen wrench. You think you have it screwed together and then you reassess and it comes apart. I would never recommend this except as a way to make yourself crazy.

Before buy check at vendor website compatible cellphones (old ones...) otherwise you will just see movements and cellphone handsfree capabilities (no webcam...)
