Butler's speculative fiction/science fiction/utopian classic is given an understated and classy treatment by Heritage Press. A gunmetal grey cloth binding with azure blue designs of machinery in a matching blue slipcase.Rockwell Kent really outdoes himself here, creating ten two-color full page illustrations and 28 one-color drawings as chapter headings. The chapter headings are light and inclined to suggestion rather than statement; the illustrations are heavier, carefully worked, and have a 1930's emblematic quality reminiscent of social realistic art. A fine edition. |
