5.0 out of 5 stars We use this every day, February 21, 2008

This review is from: Ergo Organic Baby Child Infant Carrier - Chocolate Brown (Baby Product)
When my son was first born I used a kangaroo korner adjustable pouch every day, which was worth its weight in gold when he was newborn, but at 3 months he began to squirm his legs when we were out for more than half an hour no matter what position I tried to put him in. So I read up on a lot of different carriers and decided to try the ergo. I'll save the pouch for our next newborn.

He seems very comfortable in the ergo for our long walks. We are both hot blooded and sweat easily, and we live in Southern California. We peel off layers of clothing as we heat up, and I can loosen it to let a little air in between us. I sometimes support him while he stands in it when we really need to cool off, or he needs to stretch and we won't be heading home for a while. (We get much hotter when I try to carry him in my arms.) I can get him in and out of it easily by myself.

I use it to pad his back on changing stations.

He is getting used to the idea of nursing in it, but he doesn't like me to move while he is trying to swallow. The rest of the time he only likes to be in it if I am constantly moving, walking or bouncing him.

The only problem is he cant face out. I was tempted to get an out facing carrier, but the reviews I found seemed to agree they aren't as comfortable for mother or child, and the baby outgrows them quickly.

The ergo seems to be useful for up to 2-4 years. When he starts walking I will probably just use it when he is tired.

He is almost 4 months old now. I wear him on the front for our daily walks, and on my back when I am doing chores around the house. I also use it to lull him to sleep when he is cranky with gentle bouncing and singing.

The storage pouch is only big enough for a wallet and keys, or 1 diaper. The hood snaps onto the shoulders to keep his head from bobbing around when he is sleeping. I recommend getting the sucking pads for the shoulder straps, the store and web sight were out when I bought my ergo, but they should have them in this weekend, I might get two pairs. I have some burp rags safety pinned to the place where he sucks and slobbers all over.

5.0 out of 5 stars worth every penny, May 24, 2008

This carrier is a god send. I started with a sling, and an evenflo carrier but the baby would get uncomfortable after a while in the carrier, and my back would be killing me after about half an hour. Also, I have a very large chest and other carriers just didnt have very much give so the baby was a very tight fit against my chest.
With the ergo the baby is in a sitting postion and I can carry her for hours with no back pain. I use it for walks, hikes, and chores around the house. My baby is only 5 months old now and I can't imagine not having this carrier.

5.0 out of 5 stars The *best* carrier on the market I have used so far, April 28, 2009
This review is from: Ergo Organic Baby Child Infant Carrier - Chocolate Brown (Baby Product)
We have tried carrier upon carrier... and the Ergo is the way to go!

Sure, it is kind of ugly.. not the prettiest carrier out there, but who cares? Daddy can use it without feeling like he's carrying the cutesy diaper bag, which is a plus.

We can carry our 22 pounder (5 months) with relative ease, our backs don't hurt *as* much and baby is happy happy in the Ergo. If he isn't, it's because he is hungry or tired or wet!

Up till 20lbs we used the bjorn. Oh, how we should have saved our money and bought this from Day One.

Looking for a shower gift????? GET THIS! Though you may not have ANY idea what this is, believe me... mommy will appreciate this. Get together with friends and buy this if you need to. It's totally worth it.
