4.0 out of 5 stars Adjusting The Chair
I have just gotten the chair and can't say if I will find it comfortable over time. I almost took it apart to return it because I found the back pressing against the middle of my own back so that I was forced to sit a couple of inches forward on the seat. When I mentioned this to my husband he promptly removed the spring. Suddenly the chair back seems lower, further...

Bought one of these for a friend who had complained of lower-back pain after working at his home computer. Several years earlier, I had ordered a "Kneelsit" chair from Australia for the same reason, and found that it really eliminated my back pain, but my friend wanted something cheaper and smaller. The WL-1430-GG requires a lot of assembly (tip: lay out all the smaller parts on a table, in the same order as shown on the assembly instructions, and use a magnifying glass to see the detail of "what goes where" in the line drawings). When assembled, the chair looked good (the tilted seat is good for relieving strain on the lower back), and the three settings for seat height are a plus, but the knee pad turned out to be positioned too close to the seat for comfort, since my friend is 6'2", with long legs. (Unfortunately, the knee pad can't be adjusted relative to the seat.) We took apart the rubber shock absorbers and related parts that support the knee pad, and re-assembled them on the "wrong" side of the crossbar: this provided an extra inch or so of space, but it's still a tight fit. Bottom line: this is probably a good chair if you are of average height and weight. If you're unusually tall, short, or heavy, be sure to test the chair before discarding its packaging, since you may need to return it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Adjusting The Chair, January 18, 2010

I have just gotten the chair and can't say if I will find it comfortable over time. I almost took it apart to return it because I found the back pressing against the middle of my own back so that I was forced to sit a couple of inches forward on the seat. When I mentioned this to my husband he promptly removed the spring. Suddenly the chair back seems lower, further back, and stationary so that I'm sitting straight up without support. When I feel like it I can now lean back slightly and rest my lower back against the chair back for a few moments. This may not be the way the chair was intended to be used but so far it's working for me.
The directions for assembling it aren't the best. I've assembled a few chairs by myself but had to ask my more mechanical husband for help on this one.

2.0 out of 5 stars good office and meditation chair, January 31, 2010

Well made chair but no back adjustment. the back needed to be bent back about 10 degrees for my stature. I had a shop bend it rather than returhing to manufacturer.

2.0 out of 5 stars Bad Cushion support, January 24, 2011
This review is from: Ergonomic Kneeling Posture Task Chair [WL-1430-GG] (Kitchen)
Its been two months and at first I thought this was okay but after sitting in it for months the cushion in the sea is gone or smushed where you sit and I am an average size 8 female. The height is okay but the quality of the foam is inferior. I am going to try to return this one and get one with a better memory foam or better quality cushion.

the back was useless also unless I wanted to sit in it and touch my toes

3.0 out of 5 stars back support issue, May 4, 2010

Pro:
good price. seems to be durable so far. height adjustment works great.
con:
I know that the correct sitting posture for a kneeling chair is not to use a backrest at all, but if the designer is going to have one on this chair, why not make it functional? The backrest, at it's most far back position, literally pushes you forward off the chair. I had to replace the supplied 4" X 3/8" carriage bolt with a 6" just to get comfortable.
changes:
I wish the seat could adjust forward and back, but I know that would raise the price.

I PURCHASED THIS ITEM AS A GIFT. THE PERSON I BOUGHT IT FOR IS OVER 6 FEET TALL.THE CHAIR DOES NOT ADJUST FROM THE SEAT TO THE LEG REST AND WAS TOO SHORT.THE CHAIR IS GREAT - JUST DIDNT WORK FOR THE SIZE OF THE MAN.TRIED TO RETURN ITEM AND SHIPPING WOULD HAVE BEEN $50 AND THEN THEY WERE GOING TO CHARGE ME 30% RESTOCKING FEE, BY THE TIME I WAS DONE $144.00 CHAIR - RETURNED WOULD HAVE COST ME $70.00 i KEPT THE CHAIR, BUT IT IS IN THE BOX DOING NOTHING. THE RETURN POLICY IS HORRIBLE AND I WILL NOT ORDER LARGER ITEMS ONLINE AGAIN FOR THIS REASON.ITS UNFORTUNATE BECAUSE THIS ISSUE DISTRACTS FROM THE REAL VALUE OF THE ITEM

5.0 out of 5 stars better without the back, November 4, 2010

This review is from: Ergonomic Kneeling Posture Task Chair [WL-1430-GG] (Kitchen)
Luckily this chair has a removable back (well, I don't know if it's supposed to be like that, but you CAN remove it if you want) I definitely wouldn't have liked it if you couldn't have. I may not be getting the full good-posture i need all the time since I removed it, but I still think I sit up straighter in this chair than other ones I've had, it's also just about as compact as any other desk chair. The swivel and the wheels are very nice, as well as the adjustable height, everything works smoothly two months in. It's also easy enough to not use the kneeling part as well, by simple spacing your legs. My one complaint is that sometimes it strains my knees after a while, and I need to stretch. I hope this chair doesn't cause any long-term knee damage. I also get a lot of comments on it from intrigued visitors, which is always fun.
