I use a lap desk everywhere except in airports. First mistake I made was snagging a cheap one at Barnes & Noble. It warped right away. I then purchased another on Amazon that just didn't have the room for my laptop, so I started looking again. Everywhere on the net. This is the coolest lap desk - It is a great size for my laptop and plenty of room for the mouse. The padded wrist rests are such a relief I almost moaned. Being dramatic here. But it has been so uncomfortable trying to use other lapdesks. I had bought a great cooling pad called a Notebook Buddy that is amazing and takes care of the worry about overheating. It is terrific on this lapdesk! You have to go to their website (NotebookBuffer) to buy it, but it is absolutely the best (indestructible), simple, portable & cheapest method I've found for cooling. Together with this lapdesk, my setup rocks!

My previous review mentioned that the addition of wrist pads on the lapdesk was annoying. After using the product for several months I no longer find it so -- however they should still be removal like the padding underneath.
What I like most about the lapdesk is that the bean bag pad underneath forms to whatever surface it is on. With other flat coolers they can become tilted with any sort of small disturbance underneath. Plus the sides of it allow for an iPhone to sit next to a 15" macbook without a problem (and allowing for something else on the other side).

I was given this lap desk as a gift, and haven't been at all disappointed. Having used several in the past, this is the best of the best. It's not only comfortable with it's pillow, but the added touch of the wrist pads only adds to the comfort you experience. The carrying handle makes it easy to carry, and the finish looks great. The addition of the pencil holder on the bottom is just one other good feature.
Artrends really thought this through from start to finish. I can't think of another feature this lap desk requires. It's got it all, and their execution is top notch. Although it is priced somewhat higher than competing desks on the market, the extra cost is well worth it. You can't beat this for the price.
