At 72 Eric Burdon has still got it. Wish this had more tracks. "Out of my mind" is classic Burdon sound.

Debut release featuring the unlikely combination of Eric Burdon, British vocalist
extraordinaire from the Animals; and the Greenhornes, Cincinnati garage/guitar rockers, who
were also the rhythm section for the Raconteurs. These are bluesy, soulful roots rock tunes that
capitalize on both Burdon's incredible voice and the tight, energetic professionalism of the
Greenhornes.

Eric Burdon has remained active since his early days with Alan Price and the Animals in 1964. Through various incarnations of the Animals and recent solo albums including My Secret Life (2004)and Soul of a Man (2006) he remains a unique singer whose recognizable voice is still as strong and bluesy as it was when he sang his classic versions of House of the Rising Sun, I Gotta Get Out of This Place and Boom Boom Boom Boom! Now in his early 70's, Burdon collaborates with Cincinnati rockers The Greenhornes. I guess we can hope for a fullblown album, but for now, we'll have to be satisfied with this 4-song ep. Rock and Roll continues to break new ground as the youth from the 50's and 60's continues to re-define the genre in their 70's.

These 4 tracks should have been part of an extraordinary album. Two cuts, "Out Of My Mind" and "Black Dog", the latter no doubt inspired by "Hellhound on My Trail", are worth the price of admission alone. Utterly brilliant and the perfect chaser to the fine Scotch of "Til Your River Runs Dry".

Eric Burdon fans be aware of how special this short ( 4 tunes ) project is, in the Burdon legacy.
Eric is clearly having a great time singing with this group of younger musicians. He is enthused and in great voice, on these cuts.
