Most people are familiar with Eric Sloane's pen and ink sketches from his many wonderful books. Few people realize that he painted over 15,000 paintings over his lifetime. Only a handful are seen in his books "An Age of Barns", "I Remember America" and "Eighty: An American Souvenir". This new book gives you a small glimpse of the tremendous talent that this man had as a painter. I only wish that the book had many more of his paintings and in a larger format. A terrific book about a terrific man.

A WONDERFUL BOOK. ERIC SLOANE WAS ONE OF THE MOST RESPECTED AMERICAN ARTIST. I HAD THE PLEASURE OF MEETING HIM WITH MY PARENTS IN THE 70'S WHEN WE WOULD VISIT AND HAVE HIM SIGN THE BOOKS MY MOTHER OWNED. HE WAS SUCH A GRACIOUS MAN. HIS PAINTINGS DEPICTED JUST WHAT AMERICA MEANT AND HIS DETAIL WAS AMAZING.

ANYONE WHO EVER READ ANY OF HIS BOOKS WOULD AGREE. HE WAS ONE OF A KIND.

IT IS WONDERFUL THAT MICHAEL WIGLEY HAS COMPILED THE PAINTINGS IN THIS BOOK THAT WE COULD SEE MORE OF WHAT ERIC SLOANE MEANT TO AMERICA.

Although primarily known for his black & white sketches of early Americana, Eric Sloane was a marvelous painter as well. This book is a fine collection of his color paintings. Sloane is able to capture the true spirit and feeling of his subject matter, often using unorthodox painting methods. This book is a masterpiece and a must have for any reader, collector or admirer of Eric Sloane's work.
