Short: Mellow, warm, easy on the fingers, not quite as deep sounding.

Long: I like these strings. I usually go with a bigger Gage, but I wanted to try something a little different this time. To me these strings are mellow. They have a nice warm sounds that resonates well. However they don't have the depth that my heaver gaged strings did. But that being said, they are really easy on the fingers. Not only are they easier on the fingers but barring takes less pressure. I don't play as frequently as I would like to and its nice to know that when I do pick up the guitar and play for 20 minutes or so that my fingers can easily handle the punishment.

As I've gotten older and the arthriitis in my hands gets a little worse each year, I've had to adjust my playing style and strings. I used to use medium gauge i.e. .012-.054 gauge, on my acoustic. Well, it's gotten to the point that it's just become too hard for me to use heavier gauge strings, so I thought I'd try these. And I love 'em. They still sound great but they're not as hard on my hands as the heavier gauge strings. The string gauges are .010, .014, .020, .028, .040, & .050. I still have the great Ernie Ball sound and chording is so much easier. As I will always say, BALLS ARE BEST!!!

I use these on my Martin guitar and it makes it sound absoolutely amazing. I always tune down a half step, and with the strings it's so easy to play. I have used so many different kinds of strings over the past 6 years including Elixar, Martin, and many others. There is no comparison at all. By far the greatest strings ever made

A great product that plays well with excellent sustain, keeps in tune on a good setup, and helps squeeze a good tone out of an entry level acoustic (Fender Redondo).

Compared to D'Addario's Phospor Light.

Ernie Ball Super Slinky Phospor Light:

Playability: Great, Soft feel and Less buzz (
Sound: Warm rich clear sound with some brightness. (great with fingerstyle)
Volume: Great
Sustain: Great
Punch: Great.
Bass: Average.

D'Addario Phospor Light

Playability: Average, has some buzz and hurts fingers
Sound: Warmer, but doesn't sound full.
Volume: Great
Sustain: OK
Punch: Average
Bass: Thin, but ok

I worked for this company for over 5 years. I quit because I did not agree with the way they treated their employees that were from another country, Terrible factory work conditions and the people who make these amazing products are 95% Asians ,and the owners feel they can exploit that. With that being said, this is by no means a biased review at all! These are hands down amazing strings and this is the only product I will buy from this company. Ernie Ball himself was an amazing person and human, his kids are ungrateful brats and give this product and company a very bad reputation and name.

Nice overall, with a good sustained ring from the steel strings (1-2) and a bit of a metalic sound on the wound strings (3-6). I like the sound I get on my Yamaha acoustic.

I purchased these strings to replace the ones that came with an inexpensive guitar I bought my daughter. They gave the relatively cheap guitar a wonderfully rich sound.
