5.0 out of 5 stars At last an excellent British TV series is released here., May 2, 2005

I remember seeing an episode of The Champions when it was shown on NBC in the late sixties, so I'm glad it's finally being released on DVD so that people who haven't seen it can see it and judge for themselves how good it is.
The series starred Stuart Damon as Craig Stirling, William Gaunt as Richard Barrett and Alexandra Bastedo as Sharron Macready, all agents of the international peacekeeping organization Nemesis under the command of Tremayne, played by Anthony Nicholls. Given the abilities of enhanced physical and mental capabilities, as well as an ESP link between the three of them by an advanced, hidden race of people living in Tibet in the first episode "The Begining," they used their special gifts in their assignments, which involved threats from power-mad nations, Nazis and mad scientists, to name a few of the threats. It was the combination of excellent stories and an excellent relationship between the three agents, who couldn't reveal their new powers and abilities to anyone else, that made The Champions an excellent show. This is one show that deserves a sequel or a new series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous TV series from the time period, February 4, 2006

Great Set for reliving a pleasant childhood memory.
There has not been a series like it since.
I did not want a used version so I went to
http://www.deepdiscountdvd.com/dvd.cfm?itemID=ANE071292
to get it out of the box, but only Set one has been made.
15 episodes. 15 more would be in Set 2 if they release it.
A&ETV "Arts and Entertainment Television" produced it.
Hope you will all join me in sending them a note encouraging them to release set 2 also.

4.0 out of 5 stars Exactly as I remembered it!, September 19, 2005
This review is from: The Champions: Set 1 (DVD)
Corny, stilted acting - so bad it is so very good.

I remember seeing this as a teenager, but no one else in my family does. It is exactly as I remember it. The sets are paper mache, the "snow" is clumped ivory snow detergent, the plane is made of cardboard painted green, the acting is not exactly Emmy quality (to say the least), the "stars" and "guest stars" are all unknowns, and the plots unbelieveable. But this is one of the most enjoyable shows you will ever watch. It's a period piece that your kids will never believe could actually have been a tv show. It's so bad it's great! The production quality is kind of like "Lost in Space." For all of us who lived through the 60's and 70's, this is a must-have, if only for nostalgia purposes. I can't wait until the other seasons are available in the U.S. (currently only available in Europe) Go Champions - save the world - while the rest of us die laughing!
