5.0 out of 5 stars superb !
If you like Italian singers (and I'm referring to that nasal pop sound so frequently heard in Italy), you'll love Eros. He's hard to beat. 3.0 out of 5 stars Pretty good CD but...
OK, what's up with those Italians. Every new project lags more than few numbers from previous recordings. "Eros" is not an exception. Favola, Adesso tu (even some lyrics are changed from the original), Un'altra te, Memorie... are all recorded sometime in the past. Zucchero's discography has a same problem. For this reason I just have to mark this CD...

5.0 out of 5 stars superb !, October 29, 2000

If you like Italian singers (and I'm referring to that nasal pop sound so frequently heard in Italy), you'll love Eros. He's hard to beat. This fabulous singer/songwriter is simply one of the best in Europe, and the strength and emotion in his voice, as well as in his compositions, are something to experience.

The Highlights: The duets..."Música E" with Andrea Bocelli is a long (9.48 minutes) and beautifully melodic piece, unique and gorgeous. "Cosas de la Vida/Can't Stop Thinking of You" with Tina Turner is a knockout. They actually have very similar voices, which makes it a fascinating blend. Perhaps my favorite track of all is the jazzy "Memories", sung to a solo piano accompaniment (played by Celso Valli) and it's a gem. That last note is exquisite !

These 16 tracks last for nearly 77 minutes, so you get a lot of wonderful music for your $$, and like it says in the booklet, "Cuando las canciones nacen del corazón, permanecen en el tiempo". Yes, this is music that comes from the heart, and this CD is a classic for all time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Definitely his best album., April 25, 2003
This review is from: Eros (Italian) (Audio CD)
Eros Ramazzotti is the best-selling italian singer. During his career he had made several hits and had worked with singers like Tina Turner, Cher and Andrea Bocelli.
This cd conteins his biggest hits by 1997 when it was released.
Some of the biggest hits on this album are: "Terra promessa", "Adesso tu", "Ma che bello questo amore", Musica e" and "Piu bella cosa".
For this production Eros re-recorded his hits. "Musica e" was this time recorded next to Andrea Bocelli and "Cose della vita" with Tina Turner. The song is amazing. They rock together.
There's also a new song in this album that it's very good. I'm talking about "Quanto amore sei" (How much love you are).
The only advice I'm gonna give about this album is not to buy the Spanish version. The Italian is much better, even though Eros sings good in Spanish.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must have for any Eros Ramazzotti fan!, December 5, 1999
This review is from: Eros (Italian) (Audio CD)
This is by far Ramazzotti's best collection to date! He is a true talent in the Italian pop music world. His lyrics speak to the heart in such a genuine way, that every word comes alive with meaning; he knows how to masterfully capture the love, uncertainty, and hope of human emotion. An added bonus to this CD is his duet with Andrea Bocceli.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great overview of Eros' best through 1997. Flows perfectly, April 9, 2004

Although the Amazon.com review does a pretty good job of giving a broad overview of this release, I'll add my two cents to try and complement it. To me Eros was an acquired taste and sometimes I find that singers who at first don't necessarily call my name, wind up being among my favorites. Eros is certainly one of them.

I first heard heard of Eros when a friend of mine played the oh so cool "Cosas De La Vida," a perfect duet with Tina Turner. Not only do these two sound like they were made to sing together, but the arrangement is simply incredible. That song is so catchy on the strength of that single I decided to give this release a shot. Although I liked it the first time I heard it, I slowly began to love it as I began to appreciate the subtleties in Eros' voice. Although his nasal delivery is certainly instantly recognizable, he's got a great range and through this collection, particularly in "Memories" that he has an arsenal of melodic tools at his disposal.

Although Eros has not enjoyed much success in the US, he's a major star around the world. I hope that more people catch on to him as he is truly talented and his unique voice and ability to rock out and sings the sweetest songs makes him the real deal. It's worth noting that Eros sings in Spanish and Italian. Since I speak Spanish, I went for that version but if you speak Italian (or don't know Spanish) go for the Italian version it sounds even better. Although it's not explicit, this release is a greatest hits collection through 1997, so it really picks the nuggets from his releases through that year.

Not to take anything away from some of my Latin pop favorites like Luis Miguel, Alex Ubago, and David Bisbal just to name a few, Eros' voice really makes him stand out as soon as you hear them, whereas some of the most successful acts wind up sounding a little too similar to one another. I can't recommend this release enough and it easily earns its 5-stars. If you like Eros, you may want to give an artist named Nek a shot as he is another Italian singer who I really like. Like Eros, Nek sings in Spanish and Italian. I may have to learn Italian to really appreciate these guys as the words really do flow even better in their native tongues. Thanks for taking the time to read my review.

5.0 out of 5 stars Eros ...the best!, August 23, 2004
This review is from: Eros (Italian) (Audio CD)
The only thing that I can say is, THAT THIS IS THE BEST CD THAT I EVER BOUGHT!
It has got very good music, italian music, the Eros style. Its better than the cd of Laura Pausini(which is very good too).

I love Eros' music, and this is one out of my two favorite CD's (the other is also his :o). His words are both beautiful and inspirational, and his voice is absolutely sexy!

4.0 out of 5 stars Makes me feel italian, and I'm a girl from NJ!!!, September 27, 1999

To hear a voice simply sing is a joy. No unnerving screeches or whines, just a strong, easy, beautiful masculine voice. Allows me the pleasure of drifting to places I have visited and never leave my living room. I've traveled to a new place and try to visit it as often as I can. Next to Andrea Bocelli, Eros is my favorite!

5.0 out of 5 stars Ramazzotti Rocks the House of Love, May 25, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Eros (Italian) (Audio CD)
Long is good, says Ramazzotti, and he makes this album a good one. Once you get warmed up to "Eros," you refuse to leave it; his versatility is at his best here without losing the curious nasal appeal. Thrilling and smooth, from the jumpy "Ma che bello questo amore," through duets with A. Bocelli and Tina Turner, to the sultry (can I use that word?) "Se bastarse una canzone," his sound is as sexy now as it was ten years ago. Dance the night away to it, but be careful--it is dangerous. Without doubt, Ramazzotti reminds the audience--once again--that music was invented for the Italian language.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bravissimo!, August 21, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Eros (Italian) (Audio CD)
The first time I experienced the listening sensation of this CD in its entirety, was at high speed in an Italian sports coupe on the Italian autostrada. Que l'esperienza! All of my Italian friends love his music. Eros, with his exhilarating music, will have you feeling like you're Italian as fast as an Italian sports coupe can get from 0km to 180km! Tina's accompaniment was extraordinare! Open yourself up to some Italian culture, and add this to your 'raccolta'.
