Complete erotic portraiture how-to for couples.

This book is for couples who want to share their joy through photography. Digital photography has removed the barriers that inhibited amateurs from creating their own nude photography. The erotic can now be expressed in many ways, all of which portray a person's varied sides.

Erotic Home Photography is a complete how-to guide for couples who wish to produce private images they can share between themselves. The book takes an honest and open approach with tastefully photographed women and couples. Practical advice is given for overcoming inhibitions, perceptions of idealized beauty, and becoming comfortable with being photographed nude.

Valuable advice explains posing, simple cosmetic enhancements, using light and shadow and tips for shooting in a variety of exterior and interior locations. Creative tips are offered for producing beautiful images in a variety of locations, costumes and props. Particular attention is given to digital tricks to manipulate and enhance the image.

On the practical side, the latest digital equipment is identified and explained in non-technical terms including:

  • Computer technology
  • Cameras: vital features and purchasing advice
  • Printers, ink colors and cartridges
  • Scanners
  • Memory cards.

Erotic Home Photography is the ideal handbook for couples who wish to improve their home photography skills.

More About the Author

I call myself a photographer, writer, and broadcaster. If I'm forced to say what I like to photograph most, I'll say it's travel photography because that includes people, landscapes, buildings, nature and the rest. I've had some 20 books published on photography and video. The popular Digital Photographer's Handbook has been translated into about 20 language. My latest, "Digital Photography Masterclass" has proven popular with readers and reviewers: it won the Library Journal's 'Best How-to Book of 2008 and was chosen by Shutterbug as its 'Créme de la Créme' of Top Digital Imaging Books of 2008.

I won the 1988 Thomas Cook award for Best Illustrated Travel Book for my coverage of the Marco Polo Expedition. Goodness knows how; there were very strong contenders that year. I presented two ground-breaking six-part series 'A Digital Picture of Britain' and 'Britain in Pictures' for BBC. And an eight-part series for Channel News Asia Singapore was broadcast in August/September 2009 and is being distributed in DVD.

I've worked as magazine editor, picture editor and was senior lecturer in photographic practice at the University of Westminster for 12 years. I led a Know How Fund project that reformed the journalism curriculum for a university in Kyrgyzstan, as well as photographing extensively in Central Asia. I was chair of the Arts Council England organization for Chinese Arts in Britain and am a founding member of the World Photography Academy, where I helped initiate and led the Student Focus program for its first two years.

My current interests include documentary film-making, high-definition video, fine-art photography, writing fiction and poetry. I was born in Singapore and now divide my time between UK and New Zealand.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just Right For Us, September 2, 2005
This review is from: Erotic Home Photography: How to Take Your Own Nude Portraits (Hardcover)
My Wife and I are amateur photographers and we spend a lot of time apart from each other do to my job in the Army. This book was great for us because it had a collection of good ideas for settings and props, along with an entry level photography 101 approach to the mechanics of taking pictures.

We used the book as an initial reference and as a starting point for our email based photo exchanges. The section on digital editing/correcting/styling was very useful. I would recommend that anyone even interested in buying this book should purchase a decent digital photo editing program to play around with while they explore the book.

If you already know your way around a darkroom then look for another more technical book to satiate you. However, if you have limited experience with cameras and a beautiful willing partner to practice with then I recommend this book for you.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good, not great..., August 28, 2005

This review is from: Erotic Home Photography: How to Take Your Own Nude Portraits (Hardcover)
We found this book to be one of those that had a foot in each camp, so to speak, giving some technical and some 'psychological' tips that apply to taking nude photo's of your partner. While the concept is good, the execution was lacking, and the book was a bit light in both areas.

Personally we would have preferred something a little more technical, perhaps even formulaic, showing how (settings, lighting diagrams, etc) particular shots were achieved.

The writing style was another thing we found odd. It had a rather stilted, almost academic feel to it, rather than a friendly, chatty, 'hey guys, you want to take dirty pictures of your wife, here's how..." feel to it, which is apparently where this book is aimed. Feel free to disagree.

Finally, the fact that the author says the entire book's photo's were shot the day the book was due at the printers speaks volumes. A book's photo's shot in a day or two ? They were average, not great, or even particularly good.

Clink, clink, 2c deposited.
