Book Description

Erotic Refugee – a person who has moved to another country for love, companionship or sex (although mostly for the sex).

Rob knows all about getting laid. As an Irish expat in Stockholm, he just has to open his mouth and let his surly accent do all the work for him. No problem.

Eoin has survived a messy divorce and is now a part-time single father and full-time neurotic. He'd very much like to get laid, but doesn't really know where to start.

But when Rob loses his job, he suspects his pulling power with the local ladies could run out, not to mention his savings. So he hatches a plan for an Internet dating site with a twist that will make him rich and desirable. Now if he could only put down his Guinness and get it started.

When he meets Eoin in a bar, everything suddenly takes off. But to get their well-deserved fame and fortune, they’ll need to struggle with jilted lovers, angry ex-wives, sexual secrets and all those extraneous Swedish vowels. And as the two new friends discover, neither sex, love nor HTML ever turn out quite the way you expect.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fun read for practically nothing! December 17, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
An amusing and captivating story about being foreign, young, and single in Stockholm. Having done just that myself, I wondered, both in admiration and in distaste about the situations these guys get into. Some of them gave me a very uncomfortable feeling, similar to what I feel watching the US version of the Office. That just makes it all the more interesting to see if and how they survive and at a few points I had to cover part of the screen to keep myself from skipping ahead because of suspense. A fun read for practically nothing!

4.0 out of 5 stars Two Irishmen Looking for Love in Stockholm April 11, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Erotic Refugees was a fun book to read, even if it's about a couple of guys. Irish protagonists Eoin and Rob are likeable and real, as are all of Kelly's secondary characters. ER missed five stars by a hair's breath only because the plot could have been a bit stronger. But, overall, fantastic job. Hope Eoin and Rob pop up in a future novel. Paddy Kelly is one funny man and a jewel of a writer.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun and Funny March 15, 2013

Why do men tend to be funny when being erotic? It charmingly ends with true love which is pretty special.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun Modern Tale January 11, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is a great read. The setting is Stockholm and the characters comprise of Irsh guys and Swedish women. What a combination.
Stockholm is portrayed as a beautiful city. There are great observations on the subtle differences between the Irish and the Swedes and of course between men and women. Its all hooked together with a page turning tale of modern life with all its uncerainties, opportunities, heartbreaks and fun.
The title and and cover may seem cartoonish but its a humerous allusion to one Irish guys experiences of living in Sweden. It all makes sense in the end.
If you like Nick Hornby or Tony Parsons you'll love this.

It's funny and catches your interest. It's hard not starting to care for the main characters. Very good description on what Sweden feels like to an outsider.

More About the Author

Paddy Kelly was born in Ireland in 1971 and narrowly avoided being a farmer. A romantic accident caused him to move to Sweden where he remains to this day. Luckily he really likes queues and snow.

Paddy writes contemporary fiction, science fiction and much in between. He also dances the Lindy Hop and the Charleston, buys far too many hats, and does strange breakfast experiments with porridge.

"Erotic Refugees" is vaguely based on his own experiences as an expat and single father, and is his first novel to be released. The movie rights are still available, so get on it.
