I'm Thoroughly Seduced,

Surpringly Govinda ditches most Middle Eastern infections to give more of an exotic flair of sultry trip-hop and electronic/ambient beats. But of course the ingenious Texas programmer/multi-talented instrumentalist Shane O' Madden still embraced Govinda's trademark of contemporary world music with the generation of layer upon layer of violin playing, doing it careful and subtly as to not overdo it but instead to place it exactly in all the right yet minimal spots. So once the production is completely finished the end effect is a lush, cooing atmosphere of angelic female vocalese's entwining bright textures and delicate groovebeats to raise an intoxicating mist in one's mind; leaving the listener deliciously satisfied. Understand, though, that this is no Entwined & Entranced or Oh Earthly Gods, but instead more of a changing experiement that deems, in my opinion, notably worthy of listen upon listen upon listen.

I recently bought this album and promptly fell in love with it. everyone I know loves the cosmically smooth rhythms and positive beats that define this album. The mixture of trippy violin and traditional sounds of Indian, Celtic, and Spanish music move the mind. The transient flowing synthesized tunes move me to a level beyond the planet earth. The music of govinda has the ability to relax, invigorate, and expand the thoughts of anyone who listens with an open mind.

Like some other people, I first heard Govinda's work in the Buddha Bar compilations. This prompted me to buy three albums of his, all excellent: this one (Erotic Rhythms from the Earth), Worlds Within, and Entwined and Entranced.
I highly recommend all three, though perhaps this one is my favorite. His lush, middle-eastern influenced melodies, combined with modern, sultry beats make this CD the perfect album to put on anytime you want to enhance your mood -- or upgrade your friends' musical tastes.

First off, I wasn't crazy about the other Govinda albums. I liked them, but didn't love them by any means. I bought this one mostly because I thought the cover was one of the best covers I've ever seen. Upon first listen I was very disappointed. Each time I listen o it, though, it gets better and better. Now I really like it (but don't absolutely love it yet). I think it's much more inventive and original than the other two albums. It's much more down-tempo than "Entwined and Entranced," incorporating experimental trip-hop beats rather than generic dance beats. The world sampling is at a minimum and fits very well where it's been placed. The noteworthy songs (in my opinion) are "Organic Beauty," "Synthetic Beauty," "Mind Mysterium," "Two Become One," the remix of "Le Zephyr," and "Falling from Grace." Just a warning to anyone listening to it for the first time: The first three songs are the worst on the album! So don't turn it off and toss it out after listening to just the beginning. Recommended for those that like trip-hoppy or dubby beats and a fresh new sound unlike most new age or worldbeat artists.

I own Govinda`s CD "Entwined &Entranced" and now his new CD is even better!! It soothes the soul and enlightens the spirit. His music brings out a vision of a perfect world living in peace and harmony with one another. If you are into this music you should also check out "Ikarus- CD:Touch the sun" also available on Amazon.com. Two masterpieces of World/Electronic!!

LOVE IT! LOVE IT! LOVE IT! I'm so glad I stumbled over this CD. I listen to it on low volume while I work (Massage Therapist) and my clients love it. And when I drive home I blare it. Probably one of the only CD's in the world that can give you those extremes. I want MORE.

One of the sexiest albums ever created!,
This review is from: Erotic Rhythms From Earth (Audio CD)
Govinda's third outing entitled "Erotic Rhythms From Earth" raises the bar once again from Shane O'Madden's first two albums but where as those albums had a very strong traditional this third album of Govinda's has a more of an electronic trip-hop backdrop but maintaining the worldly sounds of it's two predecessors. The overall sound of this album was also a surprising change from "Entwined and Entranced". This CD also has a lot more jazz elements along with DJ dance beats but nothing that is generic at all yet it also has a unique and enticing spice of Spanish, Middle Eastern, Eastern Indian and even some Celtic sounds.
The overall feel of this album is a bizarre mix of hazy sunset urban mood and a dark red-light district urban dance feel throughout the album. Mainstreamers can move on because there's nothing that is generic on this album. In the music on this album, a massive splash of seduction, energy, and sexual energy flow in every one of these 11 tracks. "Move Me Slow" is an incredible track with a slow trip-hop rhythm not too much unlike what one might hear from a Massive Attack record (Thinking "Angel" from "Mezzanine") and has a chilly afternoon urban mood. Being the album that it is, the title could not have been more perfect. This gets my nod as one of the sexiest, most energetic and greatest albums of 2001. A pity that it's so hard to find nowadays because it is so wonderful and wonderfully chilling. Highly recommended.

So I have a couple of Govindas albums. I understand their style, their approach, their inspirations. And yes, this particular cd was a bit different from their others. They begin to draw an exotic dance with their instruments. They tease you with the vocals. They are magnificent!
They can provide you with an upbeat experience, or a downtempo drama of your life. They are also great live if you ever have the opportunity to see them. I think that each cd has its own unique flare. So you own a couple of them already? So what! This one is worth the buy... this one is my favorite.

I've just recently started exploring this kind of music after having Enigma in my collection for a long time. I bought this CD after a little research and sampling and absolutely love it, I played it the entire weekend. It flows nicely and has a wonderful techno middle eastern feel to it...great for lovemaking or setting the mood for lifestyle scene. I'd definitely recommend it.
