Rare, reassuring and thorough,
By A Customer
This review is from: Erotic theatre (Hardcover)
A thorough and series work now sadly out of print, Erotic Theater gives a rare look at the truth of performance morality. In one sense his book gives assurance that there truly is nothing new under the sun. The book clearly traces the movement of erotic theater out of private court theaters and into the upheaval of the urban seventies. The only criticism of the book I can make is it's lack of end or footnotes. While the subject matter is aimed largely at an audience of academics, historians and artists, the citations are often rare and leave interested parties at a loss when it comes to picking the fruits of Elsom's research.
