standout cd, December 8, 2005
This review is from: Erpland (Dig) (Audio CD)
Compared to some of their other `one dimensional' albums, Erpland really shows what this band is capable of doing, compositionally and creativally speaking. A knock this band has is that every song sounds the same...I wouldnt go that far, but they tend to focus on a jam over one or two chords at times.
Erpland has some interesting twists, chord changes, different instruments and various ethnic influences and sounds which show their mastery over the array of analog and digital synths they use. You just dont get a blazing reverbed guitar solo with the bubble machines in the background, but a more balnced, and melody oriented approach.
Very good album, Id agree it is the `classic' in their catalog.

One Of Ozric's Finest, August 4, 2005
This review is from: Erpland (Dig) (Audio CD)
This band may not be well known, but they are a real treat. Lovers of psychedelic music and creative Rock should own at least some Ozric Tentacles. I own what I believe to be their best music. I have Erpland, Jurassic Shift, Strangeitude, Pungent Effulgent, Curious Corn, and the Floating Seeds Remixed album. Erpland is one of my favorites. But the others are great too. They utilize so many things to make their music. It is really interesting, and never offensive. Pick up some or all of the titles I just mentioned if you like their vibe. It's all good!

Ozrics Best, April 10, 2008
This review is from: Erpland (Dig) (Audio CD)
If I had to recommend one Ozrics Tentacles album this would be it. It encapsulates all the band's myriad styles, from heady space rock to ethnic and acoustic trance jams to reggae-infused grooving, and delivers the goods like no other album of theirs can. All the band's albums more or less cover the same ground and sound alike so for anyone not wanting to shell out the hard earned wages for their many other disks you need not worry -- as long as you have Erpland.
