Daniela's nostalgic side to our delight,
By Rob Ez (Chicago) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Es La Nostalgia (Audio CD)
When speaking of someone like Daniela Romo, it is important to keep in mind, that this is a person that has been in the entertainent industry since the age of 14, participated in every single form of entertainment and probably has had little time to just be a person. On this CD, Daniela brings those few happy memories and thoughts on music form and does it well."Es La Nostalgia" is an album full of recollection and passion. With it's heavy use of acoustic instruments and lyrics speaking of memory, we get the feeling of going to places we've never seen with our own eyes from a woman who's traveled it all. Produced by Adrian Posse (Mijares, Rocio Banquells), Daniela's stripped down sound complements her heavy and passionate voice well. It might come as a change to many, since Daniela's as famous for her danceable songs as she is to her ballads. Even more so since Daniela's last album was the excellently arranged dance album "Ave Fenix" in 2001. All songs here are from mid-tempo to slow, but again, Daniela never offers a dull moment, and this record is no exception. Daniela seems to get better with every album, and her sense of imagery on this record is impeccable. For example, "Para Tocar El Cielo" very vividly speaks of true love, when one comes to a point in a loving relationship that you feel as if you gave life to this person. Other notable songs are her lovely "Mañana Seria Igual" and the Western-tinged, horn-heavy song "Debilidad". I enjoyed this album, even more so with every listen. If at first I liked this album, by the second listen I LOVED it. Romantic Daniela Romo is nice, and I hope she continues to be herself. Now I'd love another dance album....
