On the 'Editorial review': Vallenato is not from the Andes!,
By Paola "[Colombia]" (Finlandia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Escalona 2 (Audio CD)
The album is great, like most productions of Carlos & Cia.
My comment is about the "Editorial Review" that accompanies this album here. Just for common basic knowledge, this must be corrected: the Vallenato IS NOT a "traditional ANDEAN sound"!! It is precisely a sound from the Colombian Caribbean plains!! It is fundamentally a tropical rythym, with many variations. >>"Album Details Second Volume to 1994s Soundtrack to the Telenovela that Starred Nine-time Grammy Nominee and International Singer/Songwriter. The Now Former Colombian Actor Has Become One of the Most Successful Artists in Popular Latin Music. An Ex-member of the Group La Provincia, Vives Fuses Traditional Andean Sounds from his Native Colombia, Such as Vallenato with Tropical Rhythms in a Modern Pop Style." Enjoy Carlos Vives and Colombian music! |
