Book Description

7 and up2 and upEscapade Johnson series
Escapade Johnson’s name is synonymous with adventure—so why does he feel like the most boring kid in the most normal town in the least thrilling state in the country? He even thinks his schoolmates are plain, despite the fact that they are known as the funniest and most feared class in the history of Sandbornton Elementary. Things take a turn towards excitement, however, when they go on a field trip to Mount Moosilauke and Escapade ends up face-to-face with an angry bear on the side of a mountain, classmates fainting and fleeing all around him. Escapade might have just found out that living up to his name isn’t quite what he expected it would be.

4.0 out of 5 stars My 8 yr old enjoyed it!, April 5, 2007
This review is from: Escapade Johnson and Mayhem at Mount Moosilauke (Escapade Johnson series) (Paperback)
I read this book to my six and eight year old boys and my older son liked it so much he read the book on his own a second time a few months later.

He has been inspired by books like this and those from Pilkey to create his own books and comics with funny characters and silly 'boy' humor.

He is looking forward to the 'Coffee Shop of the Living Dead'.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fun book for younger readers., January 22, 2009
Fifth grader, Escapade Johnson, is in for an adventure. His class will be going on a five hour hike up Mount Moosilauke. From the moment the class steps onto the bus to the top of the mountain Escapade and his pals Jimmy, Benny and Davy face one mishap after another some of which include "bear poop, a poisonous belt, teddy bear underwear and a peanut butter sandwich that saves the day".

I loved this Escapade Johnson adventure just as much as I loved The Coffee Shop of the Living Dead. It's a cute story that would appeal to both girls and boys that read on a 4th-7th grade level. This was actually book one in the Escapade Johnson series but it there isn't any disconnect from reading them out of order.
