Another great Italian exploitation film,

This is the sequel to 1990:The Bronx Warriors. The plot has to do with this guy ordering these people to clean out The Bronx and send them to homes in New Mexico. Needless to say,The Bronx's occupants aren't planning to leave. This film has many thrilling action sequences and is one of the best Italian exploitation films ever made. May I also suggest you check out Thunder Warrior,Thunder Warrior 2,and 1990:The Bronx Warriors.

What most would call "a cult hit". I first saw this movie on an episode of Mystery Science Theater 3000. They where very funny making fun of the movie, but it wasn't that that got me attracted to it. Explosions, guns, fighting, and who could forget Moon W. Trash!

You won't get a film like this again! Over the top european action, with added gore. Fans of Sam Peckinpah and Sergio Leonewill love this, even if it perceptions of a future New York comes straight out of Breakdance!

This has to be the best action movie ever! Wall to wall explosions, shootouts, martial arts fighting, and a lot of pyrotechnics. Enzo G. Castellari also threw in a lot of his usual slow motion which makes the film quite stylish as well. Great musical score by the late Francesco De Masi fits in perfectly with some great scenes. Favorite scene - Romano Puppo smashes a baseball bat right through a disinfestor's helmet, captured in glittering slow motion of course. Be sure to check out other great Italian action titles, such as Endgame, The Last Hunter, Thunder Warrior, 1990: The Bronx Warriors, and After the Fall of New York. They're all great movies!

Great italian exploitation film, that takes two films (The Warriors and Mad Max) combines them to make a comic book action film!,

I saw this as a kid in 1983-84 in ny city. It was a hard film to forget, and now going back to see it, even though there are laughs, but this film has a charm to it thats hard to resist if you like films of this sort. It's a "so bad film, it's good" movie, complete with a crazy plot and goon characters that will allow you to just enjoy the entertainent value a film like this has.
I won't go into story, as it is also in the other reviews, this is a film, for folks who love italian rip offs and have that b quality to it, then this film will appeal to you.

Non stop action, killer fights, huge explosions, and excelent special effects are just a few reasons to see this movie. It's about a rebel named Trash doing everything he can to save The Bronx from destruction. He looked totaly awosome rideing his motorcycle, and I loved the part where he blew up the helicopter with his pistol. He was such a good actor, I could compltely feel his pain after his parents were killed. TRASH WILL NEVER DIE!!!!

I saw this movies years ago, it was titled Bronx warriors 2 in the UK, Buy this movie! it has wall to wall action, great sets, even after 20 yeras it has not dated, great fun, and Henry Silva is real mean! This is what made Italian cinema great, If you are arty try Fellini, for horror Argento & fulci, for action Castellari, oh yes, Italian cinema can show the world a thing or two!

1982's "1990: the Bronx Warriors," directed by Enzo G. Castellari, was just one of the many low budget Italian post-apocalyptic adventures to be made in the wake of John Carpenter's seminal "Escape from New York" (not to mention George Miller's first two "Mad Max" epics). It was a noted success and was naturally followed up but one year later by what I consider to be its even better sequel, "Escape from the Bronx" (1983).
The story here concerns a sinister corporation who send in "disinfestation squads," under the command of veteran American actor Henry Silva, to clear out the remaining inhabitants of the Bronx to make way for a proposed super city of the future. The Bronx in this film consists of dilapidated abandoned buildings occupied by urban dwellers who are burned alive at the hands of the squads' nifty flamethrowers. The gangs of the area, led by Trash (Mark Gregory), who reprises his role from the original and again has a heavy metal look that could have earned him an audition for Motorhead, fight against the corporation to retain control of their home. What we have here is one intense, high energy action flick. The disinfestation squads wear cool black helmets and silver uniforms and find and incinerate Trash's parents, leading him on a quest for revenge. Castellari undoubtedly knows how to make movies like this, and provides non-stop explosions and machine gun duels, all of which are very well-staged, not to mention cool underground urban set pieces that are really neat to look at. And one reason I'm admittedly such a fan of low budget Italian movies of this era is because they always provide a chance to view some really gorgeous Italian women who both look fine and often wield guns and/or swords to boot. In "2020 Texas Gladiators" it was Sabrina Siani, and here the resident eye candy is played by Moana Pozzi as Juana, who though in a small role looks extremely hot in her tight black leather bodysuit and joins with Trash and his crew at the end to fight against Silva and the flamethrower guys. Truly choice indeed. This 2005 Australian import DVD on Stomp Entertainment is Region-free and therefore playable on DVD players around the world. Though it is all but devoid of special features, it at least has a nice to look at anamorphic widescreen transfer, along with cool packaging that thankfully includes the original movie poster for the DVD cover. All in all, for lovers of low budget Italian post-apocalyptic trash from the early '80s, "Escape from the Bronx" is near the top of the heap. Highly recommended for fans of the genre. |
