5.0 out of 5 stars Can you escape?
This is a great book. I stayed up late trying to read all the endings. They're all sooooo cool! This also features some familiar Goosebumps characters & other scary things. These include: Slappy the Dummy, Monster Blood, and many things from Horrorland. So, what are you waiting for?! Pick up the book and try to escape the Carnival of Horrors (in one piece that is).

2.0 out of 5 stars Very confusing
Very hard to follow and not very interesting. You can't even tell what is going on. I gave it two stars because the plot was a good idea. The rest of the book is -------{} a pie in the face. I reccomend you stay away from this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars EXTREMLY WELL DONE BOOK, March 15, 2004
this book was the one i read first from the give yourself goosebumps series - and i loved it!!
In ordinary books you can follow the plot by simply turning over the pages - but in this book you decide by yourself how the plot developes. If you make wrong decision you'll get into trouble.
you and your friends visit a carnival full of games and rides, when you suddenly recognize that it's doomed: you have to get out until midnight or you'll be trapped there 4ever!! Your first task is to decide whether you play games (if you win 3 games and an ultimate challenge against the cranival manager you'll get free) or to try to escape by using the rides.
it makes pretty much fun to read the different ways to go. and i cant understand anyone saying that this book is commercial...???!!! the story gets never boring, on none of the 140 pages. there are 2 older goosebumps books mentioned in this book, but who cares, it doesn't disturb the excellent story.
if you like goosebumps and give yourself goosebumps i really recommend this book to you. it isn't scary in deed, but that doesnt matter - it's pretty exciting and very funny to read!!

5.0 out of 5 stars R.L. Stine is in the house!, November 12, 1996

WOW!!!! R.L. Stine is at his best! Sure, the old books were great, but now, you get to choose you're own story! This is sure to be a prosperous new series! Also, if you've read a lot of the books from the regular series, then you'll know the right choices to make on some of the decisions. Well, goodbye now, and good luck in The Carnival of Horrors! (You'll need it!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Pretty good!, January 30, 1999

I read this book when it first came out a few years ago. I really liked it and it freaked me out then. Someone said it stunk cuz he was advertising for his own books. I thought it was pretty funny, and i think it was just a joke. Some people take things WAYY too seriously!!

1.0 out of 5 stars Horrible, July 4, 1998

Words that describe this book: horrible, predictable, pathetic, dumb. R.L. Stine's "books" are really predictable and "Escape from the Carnival of Horrors" won't even scare a 5-year-old. Avoid this book at all costs.

1.0 out of 5 stars Too commercial. Made primarily for the money., February 17, 1997
By A Customer
R.L. Stine. I have to admit, his first few Goosebump books were okay, but there is no such excuse for trash like this. If I had the option, this book would only recieve a 1/2 rating. The main reason for this book's publication was so Mr. Stine here could make some money in order to maybe get a girlfiend since his looks would only attract, oh let's say, um, a wildebeest. The book is much like one of the famed "Choose Your Own Adventure" titles, but those take maybe a year or so to write. This book, I believe if I had the time I could have written it in a week. The story opens up as some kids seeing the new carnival in town has much better attractions than the usual annual event. They're invited in to test out the rides and things and all throughout the book you must learn which option is best so you won't be killed, captured, or any other peril. The worst thing about this book is that Stine advertises his books he's previously written in a very obvious sense, like the option that you have to enter one of the carnival tents and Slappy (a not-so-original-idea of a living wentriliquist dummy like in the movies The Puppet Master, Child's Play, and Demonic Toys who also starred in an earlier Goosebumps book) is found sitting on a shelf and one of the characters says something like "Hey, isn't that the dummy from that Goosebumps book Night Of the Living Dummy?" My main point here is that you should: NOT WASTE YOUR GOOD MONEY ON THIS HORRIBLE PIECE OF (vulgar word of your choice here)! GO BUY DICK AND JANE FOR A MUCH MORE ENTERTAINNING READ! That's all I really wanted to say. sincerely, Dan Goree
