Editorial Reviews

Exclusively re-mastered for this vinyl release including 6 tracks that never made it into the original film. John Carpenter not only directed Escape From New York but also composed and recorded all of its music too. This score sounds as fresh today as it did when it was first released. Laden with brooding electronic pulses, flashes of Krautrock and healthy dose of nu disco, the combination ensures that this soundtrack sounds as happy on the dance floor as it does in your headphones.

Exclusive cover art by Jay Shaw (aka Iron Jaiden), one of the most in demand poster artists working today, his recent work has been selling out in minutes, creating a huge demand on the aftermarket. Jay is heavily influenced by the abstract posters of the Polish film industry and is not afraid to experiment with his work. Sleeve notes from Alan Howarth and comes with an A2 poster.

Format: Vinyl
This review will consist of two parts.
First is for the vinyl, the sound quality, and actual music.
This pressing itself is stunning, with a lovely slab of vinyl. It sounds incredible and the quality is top notch. The orange vinyl looks stunning as well. The music itself is incredible, of course. For me, this is the height of John Carpenter's soundtracks, and the minimal, tense style is perfect.

Second, is for the packaging. The sleeves are both well made, sturdy, and seem reliable. My only problem with this entire product is the horrible sleeve art, which is also what's on the poster. The comments on the inner sleeve are also worthless, since it's just some guy recalling how his dad told him the movie was great when he was 5 years old. Who cares? Give me a solid vegetable to go with this steak of an album, not a tasteless appetizer served on a Styrofoam plate.

Didn't anyone consider that the album art/poster image is just a generic New York photo altered with some cliched iphone app? Doesn't this classic soundtrack deserve something comparable? I might have to make my own sleeve, just so it doesn't annoy me every time I play it.
