This book has completely changed my view on knowing and following God's will for my life. At first it is easy to think that one needs to escape the life they currently lead and head for a remote location. But read on to find the real secret to "hearing God's voice".

Mr. Hohnberger found what all of us are still looking for. We believe that God is present all times to support us, however we hardly feel His presence among us. Our lifes are so busy that we forget the precious things. Learning how to stop and get off the train is the most interesting lesson from this book. You should take a break of your really busy schedule and read this master piece. GREAT BOOK. INSPIRED BY GOD.

This book wonderfully presents God's personal interest in every part of our lives. For whatever reason, the book may not speak the same to every individual. I found myself excited to see such a profound book written to help searchers looking for a more personal relationship with God and to aid in getting beyond several walls that certain practice of religion has built. It further illustrates the true power and freedom found within a continual and personal walk with our Creator and Redeemer that just attending church or schooling at a seminary cannot provide. I can personally testify, with many stories in my life, to the fact that God does care about the minute details of our lives.

I have known and met the author, Jim Hohnberger for a few years. It speaks about how God worked through his daily life. He shared about his life experience with his family. How to submit our self to God. Are we really ready to listen for God's voice? What powerful words from God! How he explained to people how they could live better lives. Why did he leave the city? Because God impressed him that in the city he was be so occupied with other things that he wasn't working for God and didn't have time to work with his family. When he was in the country he had time to be with and help his family and he experienced how to live the way God wanted him to live. How God worked through Jim's heart. I have heard that many of people was changed through by God's grace. I recommended this book.

I have read this book twice, once by myself, then with my husband. Then we lent it to friends, and we recommend it to everyone, along with the Hohnberger's book "Come to the Quiet." This is the life most of us long for...simple, down to earth, a connected family, connected with our Maker. I appreciate so much Jim's heart and his love for God and his family. I have met and talked with Jim and Sally in person, and they are lovely people who take the time to speak with you and you can clearly see their heart for God. Amazing family who did what most of us only dream and talk of. Thank You, God, for this family.

Both myself and several of my friends have been deeply impacted and changed by this book, as well as related taped messages that are also available from Jim and his wife Sally. The book is very practical and really cuts to the chase, getting back to the essentials of what it means to truly follow Jesus: surrendor our lives completely to Him, putting all our choices in His hands; seeking and listening for His guidance in all things and then and obeying [Hohnberger also talks about ways to hear and recognize God's leading]; re-prioritizing and simplifying our lives in order to focus on what is really important, etc... The Holy Spirit has used Hohnberger's book to truly challenge me to work for living a life truly surrendored to Christ, moment by moment. Friends of mine have been similarly impacted, and we have spent hours eagerly discussing these concepts between ourselves and with other friends -- and even more time just praying and trying to apply the lessons to our lives. I am not a Seventh Day Adventist, but I find Hoenberger's writing to be very sound Biblically and applicable to all Christians. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to deepen their walk with Jesus.

Have you been searching for something in your Christianity, but you aren't quite sure what? Well, "Escape to God" has the answer! I'm on my third time through, and I am finding more than I ever expected. The best thing is, it isn't theological and beyond the average layman's understanding. Even better, it's practical, not just theory. It gives real-life examples from the author's own life and the lives of those he knows. Jim is a personal friend of mine, and I can see how his has been changed by the revolutionary ideas he presents in the book. It works! It really works! This is a must-get book! [...]

This is probably the most meaningful book I have read in a LONG time! This man is very clear in his words in speaking about how God has worked and continues to work in his life. Also, it is a easy book to read and understand. I even read for our family worship a story or two from Jim's experiences that he shares. He has the most amazing experiences he has been through. His book has made me want what he has, that walk with God, trusting in HIM...and really letting God lead in my life! I am going to be reading the 'Come to the Quiet' book next, I just got it. And look forward to more information on how to get on the road I should be on, trusting more in God to lead in my life!

Read this book, you will not be sorry! And you will find yourself wanting to share it!!!

I bought this book as a skeptic and seeker intrigued by the story
of a man who moved his family to the wilderness. But I was very impressed by the author's religious faith. That such profound wisdom came from a mere real estate salesman surprised me. The author practices what he preaches and provides an interesting story interspersed with truly profound and practical spiritual advice.

I just loved the book. I have passed out about 100 copies to family and friends, and they all love it. They share personal experiences that make Christianity very simple and yet practical and deep. The book changed my spiritual walk with God, changed my relationships with my family and even my relationships at work. In short, it changed my life! It's a must for all who want a deeper walk with God and improved relationships with others.
