Escape from Hell grapples with a fascinating topic. Many theological answers have been compiled, but this still stumps people. The depth of God's love contrasted with the horror of an eternal hell. The film is an hour-long video drama that explores this question from the perspective of a clinical researcher who believes that it would be wonderful if the existence of a heaven-like afterlife could be proven, because this knowledge would aid psychologists in helping patients and loved ones cope with death. Her partner in this quest is a medical doctor struggling with his own demons of depression, emptiness, and anger against God.

The bottom-line message is that hell is real, and it is really bad. Either hell-preaching Christians are fear-mongers, adopting immature and psychologically harmful tactics, or the more liberal variety of Christian is offering a false hope to everyone, and is failing to give necessary warning. Escape from Hell may not convince you, but it will foster much food for thought.

Bottom-line: The dialogue is intelligent, and the acting is good. The action and storyline are acceptable, but not outstanding. This is a decent film, suitable for showing to those open to Christian teachings.

I cannot help but wonder if there has been a real-life story like this....has there been a non-believing doctor out there somewhere just crazy enough to try this kind of stunt and maybe even not have been revived back.

Nevertheless, the movie may be over-dramatized but it should make a non-believer stop and think what is happening to people when they die and come back to life... what is actually going on and give them desire to do some searching into the Bible.

Would it not just make more sense to be prepared to die than to take a chance on dying and find out there is a "hell"?

In today's post-modern, 'seeker friendly' American church, the subject of 'hell' is almost never preached about. Much too offensive to many. Fact is, Jesus Christ talked about HELL more than any other person in the Bible. It's a very real place that many will find themselves 'in', if they do not receive Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior. 'Escape From Hell' is a very imaginative, yet plausible story about a 'skeptic' who thru medical experimentation and a 'near death' experience was able to briefly enter hell. The movie is chilling and powerful, and I believe can be an excellent witnessing tool to reach others with the Gospel. I recently presented the movie to a prison discipleship class of approx. 50 inmates, and they were very impressed with the movie and its presentation!

This is a wonderful film that is sure to stir the hearts of those who are unsaved and to bring them to a knowledge of Jesus Christ. Eternity is something that should be on the minds of everyone. This film does a wonderful job of bringing us to the reality of what comes after death. I highly recommend this film to everyone. However, I would suggest parental guidance and discretion before allowing young children to view the film.

the movie is an excellent resource to show to those you wish to witness too. At our church for an Outreach event a member showed this movie. I truly enjoyed it and decided to buy it for witnessing purpose.

In spite of the hype from Rev. John Hagee, this film comes across as almost silly. The message is significant but it's delivered in a noncredible and simplistic way so it's not very engaging or entertaining. It's easy to step away from to go for snacks without fear of missing anything significant. It might be more impactful for children who won't demand a very cinema worthy production to be entertained.

A great idea - you can't argue with the desire to inform, as well as entertaining, that a real afterlife follows this life on earth, and we get to choose the destination! That's powerful.
However, in terms of honesty I found the plot slow, drawn out at times, and a little incredulous. By today's standards I am afraid the depictions of hell were so mild to be almost benign and the effects, again by today's standards, not hugely impressive.
Maybe worth buying to use clips from with small groups (subject to licensing etc)

For as much hype as there was about this movie, it was not as good as I expected. Actors did a fair job with acting. I don't know how old the movie is, but effects in it weren't good either. Good plot, it was just not done very good. Sorry I spent the money, but thats the only way to find out.

I was very disappointed in this dvd. Although it has a good message, the scenes from Hell were laughable. I do not recommend it at all.

In the life of a true Christian there exists the reality of two forces in life, that of good and evil. This is a movie expressing this view, one of heaven for the believers because of the existence of the risen Jesus in their life,a choice made by one having recognized the living Christ, and a heart that has been changed because of this choice, and one of Hell because of the absence of Jesus in a life due to ones own choosing,a choice offered, and a choice rejected during their life.

This division is expressed in this movie which is based on the agony of a life ended without a peace lived, or eternal separation from God, and the agony that awaits. It is the story of one man's journey into the unknown realm of death to find peace, only to find the reality of agony due to choices in his life. A movie about testamonies of people who had died and returned, and had experienced the reality of both. Heaven a place of light and unexplainable peace and joy, and Hell a place, as the scripture has pictured it, endless agony, a place created for the devil, and not for man, but a place man has chosen for himself because of his denial of Jesus during his lifetime. This is a movie that provokes thought, and will hopefully cause one to search the scriptures.
