5.0 out of 5 stars Escape from the Island of Aquarius, June 6, 2002
A Kid's Review
Escape from the Island of Aquarius happens to be my favorite book out of this whole series!!! Frank Peretti is an AWSOME author and makes the stories so suspensefull!!!!! I love the way he writes so much about the Cooper's faith in God and how they trust Him. However, I would not recommend this book for any children under the age of eight. Don't waste any more time and buy this book today!!!!! I guarantee that you'll LOVE it!!!!!!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars The best!, February 16, 2004
A Kid's Review
This was the best in the series! It was really, really suspenseful. I like how it ties into the coming end times-about how the antichrist (no capitilization needed here,) will deceive people to become his followers, making them think he is a god or something, although he isn't a god at all. This is a wake-up call. We do not know when the rapture is becoming! In this book, the Coopers are trying to escape from an island that is literally tearing lose from its roots! But with the dangers from the tyrannical leader of the island and earthquakes, will they escape? And who will listen to the truthful message that they have to bring? Will they rescue the people from the tyrannical leader? And is this leader the kind missionary they expected to find? The suggested age level of these books is ages 10-14.

5.0 out of 5 stars The creepiest of the series, but still cool!, January 31, 2003
By

It's Frank Peretti's brilliant novel writing skills...condensed! It's a super-cool family of archeologists--minus a mother--who investigate phenomena in the spirit of Indiana Jones, only with a Christian perspective. A nice alternative to the gore and junk in the Indiana Jones movies.

In this book, Dr. Cooper and his kids visit the island mission of a missionary by the name of Adam McKenzie. However, it seems that things are amiss on the island. Their friend has become a patron of local myths and superstitions, and become involved in native rituals. Dr. Cooper is suspicious, and carefully investigates. What he encounters is not at all what he expected! With his life, his children's life, and island parishioners' lives at stake, the Coopers must all rely on Christ to help them Escape From the Island of Aquarius.

For the parents: This book doesn't contain as much death-and-skeleton type creepiness, but some more bizarre events that before. Still, as I said in my other reviews, I read them as a child, and loved them. I'd recommend them for any kid 10 or older.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of my favorites of the series, April 10, 2010
I liked this one better than the first in the series. It didn't take as long for me to get pulled into this one. I couldn't put this one down. It took me about five hours to read it. I had planned on just reading a little and going to bed but it is now 2:30 in the morning.

Frank Peretti is a Christian author so that is always evident in his writing. With his adult books it can be subtle with someone learning a lesson of some kind but with this series Dr. Cooper and his two children Jay and Lila travel together in archeological investigations. They use their beliefs to discount the legends that brought them there in the first place. So in this series it will plainly say where something is found in the Bible that they are talking about. I always learn something myself.

In this one they travel to an island in search for someone and end up trying to save the whole island. I love Frank's writing because I can always picture things in my mind while I am reading it. It is very easily done and makes me wish that they would do a series of movies for these books. It is just enough description for you to imagine things and it doesn't over do it to where you get bored. Between book 1 and this one, book 2, this one is my favorite.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Book With A Wonderful Christian Message, July 23, 2009
By
Ctwink (Beavercreek, OH USA) - See all my reviews
(VINE VOICE)
The Second Book in Frank Peretti's "Cooper Kids" series. We were given the first 4 books by a friend and were extremely thankful. This time the Coopers are on the lookout for a lost missionary and find themselves on a Pacific island surrounded by a small village of transplanted Americans and Europeans who are brainwashed by their power-mad Cultest leader.

As always Peretti treats the devout Christian lives of the Coopers as just another normal part of the story and, contrary to some Christian books, movies, or audio tapes that I've had, this aspect of their lives does not seem false or forced into the storyline in order to turn out a "Christian" product - when the Coopers stop to pray before making a tough decision it is an appropriate action that only helps to further the action. Reading some of the reviews for the other books in the series, I think it's pretty funny when some obviously atheist parent tags the book as a "stealth Christian product" when anyone who knows Peretti's works or spends more than 5 min reading the book realizes it isn't a stealth Christian book - it's an OVERT Christian book and proud of it.

Just as all the Cooper Kids books, the real message throughout the story is not the fantastic locales/enemies or gripping action and story telling, but the Christian values (faith, love, and perserverence immediately leap to mind) of the central characters. Always wonderful stories to be either read alone by your "tween" child (my 8 yr old could easly read the book alone), out loud at night as a bedtime story, or as part of a Bible curriculum for homeschoolers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Terrific!, November 4, 2007
This story was a real page-turner, and one of my top three favorite Cooper Kids Books. Trust me, YOU WILL NOT WANT TO PUT IT DOWN!

Archeologist Dr. Jacob Cooper and his two kids, Jay and Lila, land on a mysterious island in search of a missing missionary, who was rumored to have drowned in the area. They meet a man who declares himself the missing man, but from his strange actions they suspect something is wrong. And what about the mysterious "curse" on the island?

What happens next is for you to find out.

Also check out The Tombs Of Anak and The Deadly Curse of Toco-Rey, books three and six in the Cooper Kids Series. Awesome books!

5.0 out of 5 stars BEST OF THE BEST! Harrison Ford is replaced by Jacob Cooper!, November 17, 2006
A Kid's Review
This, in my opinion, is the best of the series by Frank Peretti. I would rate this 10 stars if I could. It is a mixture of Indiana Jones, Hardy Boys, and Accidental Detectives. It is the most exciting of the Cooper books, yet it isn't scary, and it isn't gruesome. I reccomend this book to anyone over 10, because it is pretty intense.
