*Starred Review* The last thing Angela Baring expects when she goes back to the office for a file she has forgotten is to see her boss being shot by a hit man. And now the murderer is after her, too. Trent Stewart, a veteran cop, is the homicide detective on the case, and he knows that the protective feelings he has for Angela are making him lose his objectivity about the case. To keep her safe, Angela is moved from Philadelphia, put into a witness protection program in Chicago, and given the name Jane Johnson. Everything is fine for two years, until "Jane" prevents a child from being hit by a car and is hailed as a heroine by the press. Trent sees her on the national news, and knows there's going to be trouble, so against his better judgment he whisks Angela away. This is romantic suspense at its spine-tingling best. Wootson makes the danger palpable, and treats the reader to a white-knuckled, nail-biting good time. Fans of Catherine Coulter, Merline Lovelace, and Heather Graham will go for this book, too.
