5.0 out of 5 stars R.O.C.K. nuff said!, January 17, 2010
This review is from: Escape (Reis) (Audio CD)
I have owned this title since it was released in Album form back in 1981. As a matter of fact, the album came with an EP that contained Lover's Walk, Christine (live version), Miami Beach, We The People. R.O.C.K. blasted through many a tape-deck (we had to tape our albums) speakers from mine and my friends high school driven used cars during Weekend nights! This paired with the Ramones was a feast for the ears. Escape Artist was, and still is, an AWESOME work. I have the prior works of Jeffrey's on album as well. If you haven't collected his works, do it! As for the CD, another version was released well prior to the posted 2007 CD release date. I own that version. Christine, 96 Tears (remake), R.O.C.K, and Jump Jump...you can't go wrong.

Get your hands on anything this guy has done. A classic album that takes great songs and evolves them wonderfully and soulfully.

Can't believe no one review this. "Guts for Love" was pretty good and got 3 4 star reviews last I checked. To me, this is far better. With GE smith, Graham Parker's the Rumor, and the Brecker brother among others, make this a great CD.

This album escaped all of my friends attention and I assume most other people too(at least out here in the wild west). This is an excellent album. It has a mix of that old timey rock and roll and some of that 80s action blending very well together. If you like any kind of music at all you should sample this album.

you have any interest in cutting-edge circa the turn-of-the-1980's songwriting that's still powerful and relevant. Garland's other albums are strong in spots, but this one is strong top to bottom, and the addition of the four bonus tracks that were originally included as a bonus 7" sweeten the deal.

The bonus track hail hail rock and roll was the best addition to this masterpiece album. The lyrics of garland jeffreys always make you think when listening which makes this album even more impressive.
