5.0 out of 5 stars Another winner for Pop Cap! February 1, 2010
By J. H.
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
This is a beautiful hidden object game. There are 25 levels to get through. At the end of each level you solve puzzles, which will give you what you need to ultimately solve the game. I have played this game through twice now, and each time the hidden objects that you have to find change. This gives the game good replay value. I would recommend this game for any hidden object fan.

3.0 out of 5 stars Puts me to sleep. May 16, 2010

Fun: 3.0 out of 5 stars
Out of all the hidden object games I've played, I probably like this one the least. And, to be perfectly honest, after playing it for ten or fifteen minutes, I start to nod off.
There are twenty-five levels in this game, but only about ten scenes. The scenes repeat over and over and over again. The only thing you are doing is finding different objects in the same scene. And, sometimes, the exact same objects. Over and over and over again. As for the puzzles at the end of each level, there are only about five different puzzles, none of which are challenging in any way.
Another thing that disappointed me about this game is that is is only a hidden object game. I love the games that are both hidden object games and adventure games at the same time. The games where you have to find objects, yes...but where you also get to explore a virtual world, solve puzzles and become immersed in a great story line.

So, if you are new to hidden object games, there are some fantastic ones to check out. Ravenhearst, Return to Ravenhearst, Dire Grove, Hidden Expedition series...pretty much anything from Big Fish Games.

Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
This is a very good hidden object game, in that the scenes in which you have to find the hidden objects are very well illustrated. Also, there's a lot of different scenes, so it is very difficult to "memorize" a scene so that the next time you see that scene again, you have a head start to where some things are.

The puzzles inbetween are fun, too, and varied, though, because there's so many levels, you do have repeats. For example, one in-between puzzle is a memory grid ("turn over" a card and match it to another card that you turn over) that you see several times. However, there is still some variation, because one time you will be matching exact images (pink flower matches exact duplicate pink flower), the next time you will be matching "like" images (pink flower matches blue flower), and the next time you will be matching same colors (pink flower matches pink flamingo).

If you find all 50 of the locks in each scene, you will "unlock" a separate untimed mini-game of the Match-three variety, off the main menu, with several levels. I went back and played that several times for relaxation. You can find all 50 locks within, I'd guess, the first 2/3 of the game, so you have lots of time to play the specially unlocked game. As it's off the main menu, you can play it any time you want after it's unlocked, it has no effect on your timing or status in the regular game.

There is one final puzzle, not hidden object, that takes a little brainpower to solve.

Every hidden object scene is timed, as are the mini-puzzles and the final puzzle. I don't know what happens if you run out of time, because the time allowed was always ample.

Each hidden object scene has unlimited hints available, though each hint costs you points.

1.0 out of 5 stars Won't Run on New Mac - Poor Online Support June 20, 2010
Fun: 1.0 out of 5 stars
Installed this on a new MacBook Pro running OS X 10.6.4. The game crashes shortly after it is launched. I never see anything other than a black screen or window. The game is probably incompatible with the newer hardware or software revisions. Regardless, the online support is virtually non-existent. There are no updates to download and virtually all of the suggestions beyond "reinstall" and "email support" pertain only to Windows users. Do not buy without trying the free downloadable trial available on the game's website. Wish I'd known the trial was there before wasting my money.

5.0 out of 5 stars Escape from Rosecliff Island May 21, 2010

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
Loved this game. A friend had a demo of this last year and this started me off on all the "Hidden Object" games. Finally it came out on CD so I got it. Long playing, many missions. Has 2 extra games you can play once you unlock access to them. Different puzzles too during each mission.

Popcap games are very high quality, with eerie music and (I feel) excellent graphics. Because the "seek and find" part of the game involves finding objects hidden in the background, I enjoy playing them with my granddaughter. I believe they train both the eye and the mind. I also like the puzzles you have to solve, and the "match" game part of the games. This game was no longer for sale at Target or Walmart, so I was happy to find it (and a couple of others) on line, for less than they would have cost at the above stores. I also bought another copy of "Escape Whisper Valley" which I had lost, and "Escape the Emerald Star", which has interesting Majohg games instead of matches. Thank you PopCap, for another excellent game.
