An absolute classic! No summer is complete without an "Escape." And, you should check out the other tunes on this CD... some awsome songs ... rupert is a pure genius!

When I told my best friend how much I loved this song, he informed me it was the same beat over and over. Not sure about that, but I know it did not dampen my enthusiasm for the song. I interpret the lyrics as being quite comical and cute.

I love this song. This song cheaper on Amazon than on I-tunes. I only like a couple of Rupert Holmes songs and this is definitely one of them.

Sober Up After a Pina Colada,
By Amaranth "music fan" (Northern California) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Escape (The Pina Colada Song) (MP3 Download)
Rupert Holmes' "Pina Colada Song" is an infamous tune. It's sung from the perspective of a bored husband whose married life has become routine. He puts up a personal ad,saying he wants to meet a woman who "likes to drink pina coladas" and "make love at midnight." Of course, his prayer he gets answered. He goes to a club... and guess who answered his personal ad? His wife. The "surprise ending" is cringe-worthy. Wait, the entire song is! If you want better sonic intoxication, listen to Pink Martini&Montefiori Cocktail instead!
