Zombie City is a hellish labyrinth that will test both your instincts and ethics. As you are outnumbered by hordes of flesh eating undead your will to live is challenged by the question posed "what will you do next?". As if that wasn't enough, you must also make split second decisions to survive the deadly "Howlers". Much like the Nameless, Ray has put a spin on a modern monster by taking it to its next horrifying evolution. With so many possible endings everyone is sure to find one they enjoy. Just don't expect to make it out alive.

So, I guess I was deprived as a kid, because I've never read a Choose Your Own Adventure novel before. After reading EFZC, I now know I was definitely deprived. EFZC is a clever combination of a Choose Your Own Adventure/One Way out novel, meaning, you have one way to survive and a bunch of ways to die really gruesome deaths not only at the hands (or should I say teeth) of Zombies, but also a plethora of other unsavory characters. After awhile I got used to dying and looked forward to my next death, and then out of no where, I made it out! Wallace's fast-paced writing style, dry wit and vivid imagination make for a novel that is highly entertaining. And this is not a novel just for horror junkies either. Anyone who has an appreciation for cleverly-crafted, well-told stories will enjoy this book. Thought-provoking too. After all, the object here is to survive. What decisions will you be forced to make to get out alive? You can only know by reading the book...

Hard to believe that an adult version of the Choose Your Own Adventure concept has not been done like this before... the possibilities are endless here. I could see Wallace developing a cult following with these books. I'm definitely looking forward to the next one...

I LOVE horror books!!! Anything to do with gore, killing, psychopaths, you name it!!! Awesomely enough, in Ray Wallace's "Escape From Zombie City," I got to be the main character. I havent read a "choose your adventure" book since i was in grade school, and none of them were nearly as awesome as one dealing with flesh eating zombies!!! The book gives you the chance to make decisions and actually think about what the consequences could be: are your going to survive this zombie circus? or are you going to be eaten alive?? Every choice you make leads to more choices and if your lucky,a way out. Sadly, it turns out that I wouldn't make it too far. Ray Wallace did a great job of really playing to the senses, letting you smell the acrid breath, hear the howls, and feel your adrenaline kick in before you make the choice that could be your last. I did not want to put the book down and really liked going back and reading the different scenarios. Definately recommend this book to fellow horror lovers :)

One of the best choose your own adventure i have ever read. It was a pleasure to read. Only problem is that I read it in the middle of the night. Ended up checking all the shadows and under the bed. LOL! :-)

If you remember Warlock of Firetop Mountain or have ever read any choose-your-own-adventure books then you will immediately get this book.

At its heart, it's a well-written zombie survival yarn but you have to remember, this is a choose your own adventure. Periodically, you are given choices & decide what to do next. That means sometimes your story will be long, sometimes short - depends on you & a bit of luck...

This is a really welcome re-visit to a wonderful genre of book & Ray Wallace does it very well.

I didn't actually finish the book - so why review it? It's that kind of book. You fail first time, you pick it up, try again. It's not a regular cover to cover book. There is more interaction than that.

In terms of the content, the stories are your typical zombie fare and there must be hundreds of ways to die, I think I found at least 10 but then this is the zombie apocalypse.

One big difference - be assured, this is a grown up book. The writing style is crisp & everything you would expect from a seasoned horror writer. The story lines are gritty & involve everything from cults to bloody murders.
Thoroughly recommended. Well done Mr Wallace.

You are one of the last survivors in a city overrun by the walking dead. The news reports say it's the result of a government experiment gone wrong, and advise citizens to remain indoors to wait for aid. But you're not getting any safer, and you'd be wise to get out of town while you can.

The zombies aren't your only concern, however.

Thieves, cults, roadblocks, gun-nut survivors, and military defenses are just some of what you'll have to deal with as you make your escape. It's the one little thing you don't expect, one wrong turn, one bad decision that will get you killed.

It's going to take more than guts and a gun to get you out alive. Use your knowledge of the event, your instincts, and every

ounce of your luck.

Maybe it will be enough.

Maybe you'll find the one way out.

Yes you read that right, you rae stuck in a city that is over run with zombies. This is one of those choose your own adventure books, that many of us will have fond memories off from our childhood.

I loved those books, I read them when times were much simpler, when the only thing I had to worry about was getting up for my paper round. I never Dungeons and Dragons, mainly because my jock friends would have pummelled me for being such a geek. So The Choose Your Own Adventure books were my dirty little secret.

Now fast forward more years than I care to think about, and here I am faced with a part of my childhood, will it bring back great memories or will it sully a great memory?

As many of you know I'm kind of bored of the whole zombie genre, I think it's getting stale very quickly. So hats of to Ray Wallace for coming up with a novel novel, and for getting me to pick up this book.
