Escaping Heaven is his debut novel. He hopes it won't be his last.

Escaping Heaven brilliantly explores the consequences of being far too content with life (and death). In a fast-paced and riveting novel of triumph and escapism, Cliff Hicks shows just how important it is to live your life, whether you are alive or dead. It's not a perfect read—the story is sometimes a bit heavy on the exposition, and some of the POV shifts slow down the momentum a bit too much. However, it's a worthy read and a great story with excellent characterization. After reading this, you'll definitely think twice about how you are spending your days on earth (and not in some cheesy sentimental way either). I hope that Mr. Hicks will make good on his promise to write a sequel. We need to know what happens next in Jake's journey after death.

I expected this book to be funny and entertaining, but it was much more than that. It was brilliant.

As someone who firmly believes in reincarnation, I was a bit freaked out but braced myself and laughed out loud. I'm not going to spoil the story by going into it, but I look forward to more books from Mr Hicks.

This is great story: it is funny and full of adventure. It also has plenty of hints at a larger plot. If the thought of an eternity fillled with arts and crafts horrifies you, you'll love this book.It starts out slow, but stay with it - it's worth it.

BEST BOOK EVER! A great piece of work. It had me on the edge of my seat throughout the entire experience. And funny, oh so funny! Really looking forward to Mr. Hicks next book as well. Seriously.

It was fun reading about Jake growing a spine and dealing with the strange situations he finds himself in. Selling it for $7 seems reasonable. Previously it was free, which was too cheap.

Finally. Someone with a bit of creativity. This is Cliff Hicks debut novel - and it's a good one. It's quirky, fun and the type of book that I didn't want to put down.

More About the Author

Cliff "Devinoch" Hicks has, over the years, been: a journalist, a videogames journalist, a community manager and an associate producer for Westwood Studios, a community manager for Maxis Studios, a QA analyst for Konami, the customer service manager for Gamespot, the community manager for IMVU, an associate producer for Kabam, the producer for Fierce Wombat Studios and the product manager for Zattikka PLC.

"Escaping Heaven" is his first published novel. It's a story that features a man named Jake Altford (who is bored in Heaven, so he decides to break out), a Cherubim named Bob (who loves the Rolling Stones) and an angel named Max (who scratched "Born To Kill" into his halo) among others. It's a darkly comedic look at the afterlife.

Hicks has lived in three different states, two different time zones, seven different cities and has an endless number of stories to tell. He does not expect "Escaping Heaven" to be his last novel.
