"This book has a lot of description that could have been left out. However, the story is interesting what with time travel and Nazi's, interesting and brave kids, hero's all around. It moves a little slowly but I would be tempted to get the next in the series."
"I liked this book and would go on to read more of the "Darkest Powers" series. It starts out with a girl who sees ghosts so is put into a group home for the mentally unstable. As it turns out, there are "supernaturals" with different powers in the world and the girl is one of them. She meets other kids but there is a sinister element with the adults in the home that comes into play."
"The story seems interesting; another poor boy becomes wizards apprentice and then by extension, eventually a wizard. The vocabulary isn't as interesting but there is a little background with the wizard that promises more. Part 1 in a series. I would probably finish this book and continue this series."
"Excellent! Can't wait to get the next one from the library. Very well written, the story moves along. Story involves a visit to Hades to save the children who's shadows have been stolen by the bad guy who is trying to take over "down there"."
"Part of a trilogy called "Mortal Instruments". I enjoyed this series very much. Another one of the normal teen kid books where they discover there is much more to their world including another world and that some of the otherworlders walk amongst them and cause trouble. Well written and fun."
"Love the book, love the series! The usual theme, child going about her normal life and then poof! All is not as it seems. Excellent evil characters and clever/funny writing. Can't wait for the next one."
"I love this series! 14 year old boy finds not only does he need to save the world, he needs to save a bunch of other worlds to save the universe. There are a lot of annoying 21st century colloquialisms in the dialogue but I tend to skip over that part. I have enjoyed the series on cd even if the reader's voice is a little annoying."
