This device does exactly what it says it will do: mount your detector to the visor. And it works well for that purpose.

Escort advises that mounting the detector on the visor will reduce laser detection due to the tint on the windshield. However, I have a hard time with suction cups in the winter. This product lets me securely mount the detector until the windshield warms up enough to use the suction cups.

I've used a 8500 with a visor clip on my 2004 suburban since new, and the detector works flawlessly up there. Couple this with a direct wire cord either to the fuse block or the powerport on the rear view mirror and you have a truly built in look. I laugh when I see people with the suction cups and wires going all over the place. What a mess !! 2 other reasons to use a clip:
1) my neighbor who is a police officer has told me that it REALLY irritates him when he pulls over a car and their "fuzzbuster" is in plain view stuck to the windshield. Any hopes of getting off with a warning thereby go down the drain.
2) thieves see a detector stuck to the windshield and SMASH, its stolen !!

I bought this to use with my Escort 9500ix . Using this will mask many of top function keys. Also it can scratch the visor & lining of the car above the visor. Furthermore it blocked the GPS function of the detector, making its use worthless. I threw it away.

Worthless. The slot you see needs to go into the top of the radar detector. The Detector needs a clear view out the back window to see approaching radar, which is impossible unless your sun visor is completely horizonal and angled in a way that allows it to see out the back window.

This clip holds the radar detector fine. It doesn't move or flop around which is a plus. I was a little concerned that I would lose some of the radars functionality since the bubble that detects signals from behind is covered up, but it still works great.

This clip does not work. Do not buy, it is a waste of money. The lock does not engage, the detector falls off easily.

This visor clip was listed to be bought with the Cobra ESD7400 radar detector but it doesn't fit that detector.

This clip is so tight that when its fitted into my passport 9500xi, it pops off when I try to attach it to the visor.

I bought this because original mount with suction cups lost it's suction. The mount points the detector in a downward position, because my visor is locked in that position (I have a Toyota Corolla)... I wouldn't recommend buying this mount because of what I mentioned, and because Escort recommends that you mount low for laser (because laser is typically aimed at your license plate) which is more common than radar, and high for radar... I like the X50, it saved me twice (before the LEO was visible) on a six hour drive recently.
