Escribién, an easy to use word processor, offers such features as a Spanish spell checker, complete editing features, the ability to easily add Spanish accented characters (á, é, í, ó, ú, ñ, ü, ¡, ¿) without the need for special keyboards, or making modifications to the language settings in Windows. This word processor is designed especially for the Spanish speaker who need to write in Spanish on computers configured for US English use, but may not be proficient with Spanish spelling or accentuation rules and norms. The software will greatly reduce the time and effort required to create and spell check Spanish language documents, letters, reports, and proposals.

Escribién’s offers the option to use English or Spanish language menus, both of which are intuitive and easy to use for anyone familiar with Windows. You choose the language you want to see the menus in.

Escribién is able to share documents with MS Word and Corel WordPerfect directly, in its native *.RTF format. No document "importing or exporting" is necessary, and no format conversions are required.

Escribién has features that make it well worth its purchase price. In addition to being a full fledged word processor, it includes complete Spanish language spell checking and accented character creation.

Spanish accents are generated via an intuitive two key combination, or a pull down menu where the user clicks on the accents menu and selects the appropriate accented character. This contrasts with other word processors which require typing in complex ASCII II codes to generate accented characters on screen.

Escribién comes ready to use on Windows 98, Windows NT, Windows XP, Windows ME, and Windows 2000. No special Spanish language keyboard is needed, and no modifications to the language settings in Windows are required. The user can start typing Spanish characters and spell checking in Spanish immediately.

Bilingual Software offers 3 different versions of Escribién: The Básico version is the complete product without the ability to add words to the standard 245,000 word spell checking dictionary. The PRO version is the same as the Básico , but it allows the user to add words to the spell checking dictionary. The MAX version is the same as the PRO, with an expanded 500,000 word spell checking dictionary, perhaps the largest Spanish spell checking dictionary available anywhere. Special discounted pricing is available for organizations with 3 or more users. Site licensing for government and educational institutions is also available.

This software is easy to install and use. It's a must have for anyone, students and professionals, who write in Spanish.

I easily add Spanish characters right from my keyboard, and I can edit or format documents in Spanish or English.

I highly recommend Escribién!

A complete word processor that makes it very easy to type in Spanish & English, and spell check BOTH in the same document. Also makes it easy to type ALL of the Spanish characters on screen, without using a special keyboard or making annoying changes to Windows. Saves documents in RTF format (easily opened with MS WORD). Will save you a ton of time if you write in Spanish on your computer.

The product is easy to use when everything is working. However, I find that it freezes at least once for each document. This means that the program has to be closed out and restarted, losing everything that has not yet been saved. I have not been able to right click copy files for an e-mail. I have to open the file in Microsoft Word, copy it from there and then paste it to an e-mail. The accents, fonts, and text colors are preserved in this way. Yesterday I lost a paragraph from the Escribien page that wasn't saved despite numerous save clicks. It is gone forever. I still use Escribien but am constantly monitoring that I can recover what I have written. If I can find a better Spanish processor I will buy it.
