Awesome--Te llevare al cielo,

I have been searching far and wide for this song. I heard it first on the local Spanish radio stations and I hummed the beat to a friend and she gave me the name. I love this song. It inspires love in all that hear it. It truly requires genuine musical talent to come up with grooving beats and I think Mana has outdone themselves.

open your house to music from a distance,

On New Year's Eve we flew to Mexico City. A week later we were having breakfast in Oaxaca and this album was being played in the restaurant. At first I thought "sting" was being dubbed in spanish. But then the next cut would have this wonderful latin style and rhythm? We asked the waitress,"who were we listening to?", she smiled..... "mana"! Later in the day we bought the cd in a marketplace. Now back in Oklahoma, yet barely speaking a word of spanish,my husband and I love this albumn. The beat and rhythm.....

The compilation of these songs was a great idea. I could have done this at home from all the CDs that I already have of Maná, but the digital enhancements and re-digitizing makes this a must for any Maná Fan.

A good starting place,

I'm a gringo and don't speak Spanish very well, but thanks to the Amores Perros soundtrack I've become a big Rock en Espanol fan. Mana is one of the bands that kept popping up in my searches, so I gave Sueños Liquidos a shot and since then I've collected all of their albums.
This disc is a good retrospective of their catalog with a track or two off of each album through Revolución de Amor and it focuses on my personal favorites: the upbeat dancable songs. They have a poppy, rock style and are often compared to U2. I find their music more joyous, but maybe it is just that I don't follow the lyrics too well. That said...these discs are kind of expensive. Sueños Liquidos and Revolución de Amor are both chock full of great songs and you can pick up their older albums pretty cheap, so maybe the best thing to do is what I did: get Sueños and then work your way through their whole catalog. Another option would be to pick up the Mana Unplugged album which also has a good selection, but while I enjoy it, I generally prefer the album versions. Also, check out the Amores Perros soundtrack Amores Perros (2000 Film). It introduced me to Cafe Tacuba, Ely Guerra, Control Machete and a dozen other great artists. |
