5.0 out of 5 stars I Got My System Speed and Stability Back
ESET solved daily crashes and terrible slowness on a computer that ran like a champ until my former anti-virus reportedly crippled it. This isn't my first rodeo. Over many years I've used Norton, McAffee, and Kaspersky, amongst others. Without getting into why I fired Norton and McAffee, I used Kaspersky for at least three years on three computers. 2.0 out of 5 stars Not ready for prime time
I am a current registered user of ESET NOD32 Antivirus V3.0.650, which is a reasonably decent product. When I upgraded to their V4, CPU utilization pegged at 100% during in-depth scans, rendering my computer unusable. My e-mail request for assistance to their customer service department was ignored. I restored V3.

You might want to wait until ESET fixes...

Finally, my primary computer, an XP Pro with major processor speed came to its knees shortly after I installed Service Pack 3. Try as I might, I couldn't cure the problem. After several months of daily crashes and unbelievably slow operation, I took the computer to the local specialists expecting to spend big bucks. Imagine my surprise when they charged me next to nothing to remove Kaspersky and install ESET. I was told that ESET has solved similar problems for many of their customers. Sure, this thing costs more than its competitors but it does what it's supposed to do: it protects your computer and never lets you know that it's there. Buy it and don't look back!

5.0 out of 5 stars Lighter and more customizable than Norton or Trend Micro, September 7, 2009
This review is from: Eset Nod32 Antivirus V.4.0 [Old Version] (CD-ROM)
If you are tired of bloated security programs then this one is for you. ESET has had a 100% positive record of no false positives and uses very few resources.

I am using NOD32 version 4 on a 64 bit Vista machine and it works well for me. Some of the complaints earlier reviewers had are legit but I believe are fixed. Is working well for me

This thing is expensive, but what you pay is what you get. The computer barely slows down, which is surprising considering how well this product works.

After using Norton for several years and noticing how it constantly would drain more and more of my system resources I decided to get rid of it. I did some research and Nod32 came up at the top of many lists of great AV software so I picked it up.

Installation was easy and I've been running it for about 3 weeks now without any issues. It protects my computer and runs quietly in the background without making a dent in my system resources.

Overall, this thing is awesome.

2.0 out of 5 stars Company Rips You Off and Caught A Virus, April 6, 2011
This review is from: Eset Nod32 Antivirus V.4.0 [Old Version] (CD-ROM)
Based on reviews 2 years ago I purchased Nod32. One year ago when I renewed I upgraded to Smart Security. My computer started acting up and my wonderfully technical cousin found that I had a virus but the antivirus software never even detected it. Now at the end of year 2 I was looking into renewing or going somewhere else and guess what, even though I paid extra for the Smart Security from Eset my system was using Nod32. I called in to see how this happened and according to the sells rep and a manager it happens all the time. They acted like it was no big deal that I paid extra and didn't receive the product, no discount offered for the inconvenience, just rude and unhelpful. Needless to say I am not using anything from Eset and no wonder their ratings have been sliding downhill.

5.0 out of 5 stars Everything I Was Looking For, August 2, 2009
This review is from: Eset Nod32 Antivirus V.4.0 [Old Version] (CD-ROM)
I am a brand new user of ESET NOD32 v.4 on my HP Touchsmart tablet (64 bit) with Vista Home Premium. It loaded and ran as quickly and easily as anything I have loaded on this platform. I bought it partly because [...] claims it runs the lightest (uses least system resources) of anything comparable and is one of the best in virus detection.

I do not understand the problems some others on this forum have described. This package is everything I had hoped for. I have used an earlier version of Norton which would slow my system to a crawl whenever it operated, which usually seemed to be whenever I was in the middle of something important. More recently I was using last year's version of McAfee Antivirus with its user interface that seemed as though it were designed to annoy as much as possible. NOD32 has none of these problems. You can specify the update schedule and the scan schedule, and best of all, you can have it scan in the background at a low priority (why didn't anyone think of that before?!). I can now play DVD's on my tablet while scanning files and not know the difference (I tried it just to see if it would work). As far as I am concerned, there are no drawbacks to this product.

Until my email got hijacked and all my adressees got strange (and worse) messages every time I sent out an email.

Someone suggested ESET NOD32 - I installed it and oh man I am so happy I did! This is seamless- no pop ups or annoying stuff -- it just does THE JOB in a straightforward manner.

So far so good. I switched to Eset because of all the irritating reminder messages I used to get from my two previous "high end" antivirus softwares. I found Eset easy to install and haven't had a single problem with it to date. Of course, I took extra care to make sure any previous antivirus software was removed first. I'm curious to see what happens when it's time to renew, but I'm being optimistic. I would recommend this software, but one should keep in mind I've only been using it for a few months.

Wow! A year has passed and sure enough, my Eset is sending irritating messages to me daily to make sure I remember to buy more, buy more. I like to feel like I'm not being led around on a leash when I need to update my software, but I will say that ESET is not as irritating as the other two top contenders. Other than the daily messages to renew, I will say the software has done an excellent job for me. It's such a shame this software company can't give you an option to check a box to avoid reminder messages. It feels like an invasion from the very company you expect protection from when you don't want pop-ups. Will I eventually renew this product? Yes.
