More funny than filthy, January 29, 2005
British '70's sex comedies tended not to be particularly sexy or particularly funny. This one at least picked a direction and aimed to be funny.
The plot breifly is a young film school graduate is hired to make a version of Eskimo Nell (from the (infamous poem). Eventually the conman producer (Roy Kinnier) has them making 3 versions, a hardcore porn version, a kung fu musical and a gay western to which is later added a wholesome family film.
There's occasional nudity (largely female) most of which is pretty much incidental far more intresting and fun are the glimpses we get of the three films (if you're looking for a challenge count the references to other musicals in the kung fu musical there's a lot).
The cast is pretty solid, made up of British TV regulars like Christopher Timpothy (all creatures great and small) and Katy Manning (Dr Who (don't get excited she keeps her clothes on).
If you're looking for an fun little British farce with some nudity you can do a lot worse. If you're looking for large amounts of sex or American Pie style laughs this is probably not for you
