Editorial Reviews

A documentary celebration of the Filipino Martial Art of Eskrima / Kali / Arnis. Shot entirely in the island of Cebu, the cradle of this fighting art.

The film traces the development of Eskrima from its origins in tribal warfare, as an art of duelists, and its transformation into a sport practiced in over 30 countries. Eskimradors is Filipino Martial Arts as you've never seen before.

The film features legendary Eskrima Grandmasters of Cebu such as Ciriaco "Cacoy" Canete, SGM Dionisio "Diony" Canete, and GM Undo Caburnay. Groups such as Doce Pares, Lapunti Arnis de Abanico, Teovel's Balintawak, Nickelstick Balintawak, and Liborio Heyrosa Decuerdas, allow us a sneak peek into the deadly techniques which have made Cebuano Eskrima renowned the world over.

This product is manufactured on demand using DVD-R recordable media. Amazon.com's standard return policy will apply.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Exciting+Cool Moves December 2, 2010
By Ren
Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
It's a very cool historical documentary film, I've seen too many martial arts films to get excited about the story flashback fights they've been in for respect, those bits I could forward. But when they show all the old grandmasters, moving really fast doing cool moves I haven't seen on youtube yet and explaining the principles behind them I get excited. Just slow mo it and you got an instructional dvd as well, not an intentional one so don't be upset if you think it isn't, but if you pick up moves fast then yes. The masters seem to want to show their best moves for the camera as well and all the different styles are brilliant to see. Being half filipino but not having looked into my cultural heritage, this makes me feel proud of my filipino side. My filipino grandfather was in the army and did this stuff.

I got a baby boy now and when he's older we'll go to the philippines, do some stick fighting training hopefully with some of these guys if they're still around and let us.

This is an excellent historical and cultural view into the arts of Kali, Arnis de Mano and Escrima. Anybody who studies the Filipino Martial arts should have a copy. There's knowledge here that cannot be replaced.

5.0 out of 5 stars One You Cannot Miss... July 5, 2012
Format:DVD
An excellent collection for a martial artist who loves to learn the history and the masters who told their stories and experiences studying and applying their skills in combat. I had few people I know that are in this DVD and I am thrilled every minute of it. If you are in to Filipino Martial Arts or would like to collect just for the sake of what is "FMA" all about, you cannot miss this collection of Grandmasters, masters, practitioners and their students who showcased their talents to give us a martial art that is getting popular in the entire world.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great documentary and into to FMA July 1, 2012
Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
I'm somewhat new to Filipino martial arts (studying Balintawak). This is a great historical documentary and provides a really entertaining and informative view of Filipino fighting styles. This is a great resource for someone new to the arts or for veteran FMA practitioners. I definitely recommend adding it to your library.

Awesome video. I myself am a practitioner. I picked up this video after hearing about it through some forums. The history needs to be told so that it doesn't get lost.
