The Lama v3 is a very good beginner co-axial 4 ch heli. It is easy to learn to hover and then move around once you get used to the left hand rudder control. But this is not a toy that can be crashed without consequences. Durability is so-so. The tail is particulary weak. Genuine and after market parts are readily available and cheap. As well, upgrade parts that cost what the helicopter does new if you buy them all. Great fun for the price.

Very good design, lots of fun.
But don't pay more than 100 dollar for it, some place sells it as low as 75 to 85 dollar.

I bought this heli after flying an Airhog for a couple months. This heli although a great product requires time, and patience. You have to have some mechanical ability. They don't have to be trimmed much, but all helis I have seen require it. Not a childs toy!

A great trainer for your first R/C heli. I have been flying this for about
20 months on-and-off. Still all together and still flies well. If you have no R/C heli experience this is the one to get. A great value at $80. Your first flights may only be 5-7 seconds. Don't rush it. Best to fly about 3 feet off the ground and on short grass. If you get in trouble just kill the throttle. Use plastic soda straws across top of landing struts for training gear. Parts are cheap and available. ONLY fly on calm days. This Heli is hard to control in ANY WIND!! Too light. The OEM battery lasts about 7.5 minutes. Upgraded to an 1100mA battery for $18 and flight time is now 11 minutes. It handles the extra 0.7 oz batt weight well. My 11 year old flies it better than me. |
