I moved about 35 miles from the transmission park, and on the other side of a dense forest. My HD over-the-air reception sucked even with my enormous conventional outdoor antenna. The good news is the ant-106 only costs about $16.00, and gets all the channels.
Bad news is the assembly instructions are incredibly bad. I'm a mechanic and could work it out, but was it ever a challenge! Who ever said it was easy is a liar. When I finally got it assembled & mounted it would only pick up one channel. I thought "a paper clip does better than that" and went back to check on my connections; The plugins on the power-supply/rotator control are not intuitive. The white coaxial cable coming out of it is meant to go to one of two tv's, not to ANTENNA as I'd assumed. Once I'd straightened that out the reception was great -all the channels one could expect, clear as a bell.
Then I tried, just for grins, the rotator. NOW IT WILL NOT STOP ROTATING! There are no Operating Instructions, just assembly, so I've got no idea what to do to disable the motor without disabling the amplifier as well. The only place on the whole internet that talks about this problem are the reviews here, where I came looking for a solution. When I figure it out, I'll post it.

Receives all the digital signals in the area fine. Dose as well as the old 6 foot long antenna it replaced. Rotor is tricky to use, could use a indicator to tell you the location the antenna is pointed.

My brother turned me on to the HD Antenna. He bought one for almost $70 though. I found this one for $11 plus $9 shipping. I was a little skeptical based on the price comparison, but it looked to be nearly identical to his. I set up my antenna on the back porch and aimed at downtown Chicago (i am about 30 mi away). I get great reception to my HDTV and most channels come in at 720p or 1080i (others are older programming, hence no HD). NO ROTATING NECESSARY for me. Other reviews claim they need to rotate their antenna for reception. That is not the case for me. It does feel a little "cheesy" coming out of the box (very light, almost frail feeling). But you can't argue with results.

Controller was chipped inside packaging and appeared to be packaged already chipped. Coax cable broke when hand tightened the third time and the unit did not receive any signals. Junk, only good thing is how easy it is to return through Amazon.

I've had no trouble what so ever with this antenna. Easy to put together and use. I went from 4 channels with rabbit ears to 35 channels with this antenna. Would and have recommended it to friends.

Very good reception, was suprised all the channels i received about 24. I only mounted it on my outside deck railing and got about a 65 mile range could have been further if mounted on my roof. Easy to assemble and the rotor works well.

This antenna works great. I have it in the attic it pulls in 30 hd channels some of the channels are over 60 miles away. The only problem is the rotor it has a mind of it's own but all in all great for the money.

1. I guess you get what you pay for, and this unit was cheap. After a few minutes of working "correctly", this thing began rotating to the turn-around point and back, continuously. The only way to stop it is to turn the power off and back on. Then it waits a while and starts all over. I tried putting a black cloth over the whole control box, so it isn't stray infrared signals.

2. When it works "correctly", you have no way of knowing which way it will rotate when you push the button. The electronic unit has only one button, and when pushed the unit may rotate left or right. There's no way to predict, and there's no position indication to let you know which way it's pointing or rotating. The remote control has TWO buttons, so you would think one would be to rotate clockwise, and the other counterclockwise, but BOTH buttons get random directions, just like the single button on the electronics box. CONCLUSION: even if you get a "good" one, this system is only usable if you can SEE which way it's pointing while adjusting its position.

3. It DOES get a stronger signal than the tiny amplified indoor antenna that came with my USB TV receiver, but still isn't really satisfactory, even for the three closest stations, none of which are major networks.

4. I would send this back, but it took so long to assemble that I don't want to bother disassembling it, and packing it up. The power must be on for it to bring in a signal, so I plan to find a way to disable the rotator feature, and turn it by hand.

4. RECOMMENDATION: if you want a directional outdoor antenna, get a better one, and get a standard rotator, which will rotate it to the direction shown on the controller -- more expensive, but it does what's needed. If you just want something to mount in an upstairs room where you can see it from your TV viewing location, then get a small directional antenna, and rotate it by hand.
