wistful tales of little people,

This is a collection of short stories about "little people", persons of no importance or influence outside of their own small circle, but beloved of their creator (de Unamuno, I mean). Of one he says "his passing left a hole in the world no larger than a mosquito". The author's affection for his characters shines through in every page, as he alternatively pokes gentle fun and creates a wistful, nostalgic mood of time passing inexorably as people lead their lives and vanish leaving not a trace but memories in others who will in their turn vanish, taking the memories with them. The stories are beautifully written and enjoyable to read. They remind us of the transience, beauty, and insignificance of life, and of the uniqueness of each individual.

I love reading things in Spanish, but I was originally trying to find a copy of this in English as a gift. I'm a little annoyed with who is selling this, because they said it was in English, then I get it being in Spanish. I do not know if this book even exists in English. Other than that, it arrived in a timely fashion, and if you can read Spanish, it's a great book of short stories.
