5.0 out of 5 stars Another Hit for a Smooth Jazz Superstar!!, February 24, 2004

I have NOT stopped playing this CD since I picked up a copy two weeks ago. Each time I listen to it I hear something new, and my level of enjoyment just keeps increasing.

Ricks mixture of soulful composition and quality personel really highlight his skills as both an artist and producer, and trust me, he has some REALLY talented people working with him on this project. Starting with the lead song "Green Tomatoes" where he once again joins forces with "bwb" cohorts Kirk Whalum and Norman Brown for a SERIOUSLY funky jazz jam session, he features some of the top studio artists in the business on this CD. Rickey Peterson, Mitch Forman, Tony Maiden, Louis Conte, Randy Jackson, Alex Al, Paul Jackson Jr, Gerald "Wonderfunk" Albright, Gregg Karukas, and Jeff Lorber are some of the stars of smooth jazz contributing to this album.

Rick covers all the moods on this CD, from the up-tempo funky "Green Tomatoes" and dance-able "Stereo", to the laid-back love ballard "Turquoise". This is really good stuff, and though he doesn't have any technically challenging performances here, the songs are well written, arranged, and very entertaining. Throw in REAL strings on 4 of the 10 cuts and you have one EXCELLENT album. One worth listening to over and over again.

I'm enjoying it and I'm sure you will too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simply Melts in Your Ear......Just Like M&Ms, August 27, 2003
This review is from: Esperanto (Mcup) (Audio CD)
Oh, my God, from the first song, "Green Tomatoes", to the last "Mother's Day", I was hypnotized & seduced. "Zona Rosa" and "Latinesque" are feel good beats. As fabulous and as talented as Rick Braun is, I never thought he could surpass "Kisses in the Rain". This is by far Rick Braun at his absolute best. With an ensemble of remarkable artists, Norman Brown, Jeff Lorber, Greg Kurakus and of course Gerald Albright, this album is a delicious mix of latin and jazz infused into one tantalizing CD. The Album is a balanced mix of upbeat and easy melodies, this CD will comfort you while driving, seduce you while making love and, and kick it up a few notches when entertaining. Love, love, love the CD. This is definitely a must have!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Esperanto, by Rick Braun, May 24, 2005

Rick Braun covers a wide range of moods in "Esperanto" with the smoothest trumpet playing I've ever heard. This CD is as good as it gets, especially with his solo on Villa de Costa, and the songs are all great, from rhythm to smooth. I can't stop playing this album! Braun is exceptionally talented and I highly recommend this album for trumpet lovers and everyone else, because you'll love his music!

Rick Braun has done it again, I recently purchased this album at Borders after sampling it in the store. This album had me groovin' and swaying the whole time. If you like Rick Braun you are going to love this album and if you're new its a good way to get to know his music, you won't be disappointed. Its a pure pleasure from start to finish.

This track had to be a tribute to Miles Davis, it sounds like some of miles' early music. Great Track!

In the Nordic countries where smooth jazz is not around the airwaves that much, we really are grateful for internet and amazon.com that gives us the chance to lay our hans on the new albums in this format. And Rick Braun is surely one of the best in this genré. All of his albums has at least one truly great track, like "From Manhattan..." on this one (the album "Kisses in the rain" had "Middle of the night" and Body & Soul had "Notorious" - classics both of them). Just the right kind of music for a cold, cold winter (like we're having over here right now).

Rick Braun has become one of my all time favorite jazz musicians, and this disk is a must. His playing is crisp, sometimes funky, sometimes lovely. The supporting band is also quite good. Lots of fun to listen to.
