Espressione Luna Wall-Mount Pump Espresso Machine

Tried the inexpensive pump espresso machines from Europe. They make a fair espresso, but take up a lot of space.
Then I saw LUNA by Espressione at amazon.com. This machine is powerful, sleek in design, makes a superb espresso, plenty of dry steam for milk based espresso drinks PLUS it doesn't take up a lot of counter space...it takes up NO COUNTER SPACE. I've got in mounted in my breakfast room next to my wetbar. LUNA is beyond words. For the guy or girl who has everything...this is a perfect gift.

Tried pods from Italy...they were ok. Purchased Espressione pods from amazon and they are great. Rich, potent and incredible flavor.

All in all, THRILLED with the LUNA.

I have a high-tech office in Manhattan. All chrome furniture with stainless steel and glass accents.

A friend of mine was in Europe and saw the LUNA wall mount espresso machine in Germany. He was intrigued and thought it would be a great gift for putting up in my office.

When he returned to the states, he logged on to AMAZON and found it as a new item. After he purchased this as a gift for me, we installed it in my office. It took less than ten minutes to decide where I wanted to put the machine, pull out the template, drill the holes, screw the stainless steel back plate into the wall and hang the machine. It truly looks like an object of art. That would be enough...however...the machine makes an incredible espresso. Hot, rich in taste, great aroma, thick foam on top of the coffee. Then I frothed milk for one of our office team and I was totally impressed. The machine produced large volume of dry steam instantly for an phenominal cappuccino.

I checked into the maker of the machine. It's marketed by Espressione here in North America, but made by CMA an Italian maker of commercial espresso machines. That's the reason for the quality.

Viola...this is truly and object of art that makes a killer espresso coffee. Got for it. You'll get tons of compliments and make your guests very happy.

I saw the Luna in England, and fell in love with it, but I didn't think I would be happy with coffee pods - I'm truly a coffee snob. But I ordered the machine from Espressione here in the states, and installed it at the office. Fantastic! Lots of crema, very little time to warm up, fast and simple. The frothing/steaming arm has tons of power - it takes seconds. As for the coffee, I've tried both the pods available through Espressione and the Italian Illy brand, both are great. The espresso is fresh, and I've found that I'm waiting to make my morning espresso until I can use the Luna at my office - ignoring my home machine ( a very nice Swiss semi-commerical espresso machine). My only complaint is the lack of availability of organic, fair trade & shade grown coffee pods, but I'm trying to locate a European source (they are way ahead of the US in organics). The trade off is the pod - no spilled coffee grounds equals no mess at the office!

WHAT A GREAT ESPRESSO MACHINE!!!

I saw information on the LUNA by ESPRESSIONE a couple of weeks ago and could hardly wait to get my machine. I just redid our kitchen and have a look that includes textured walls similar to what is found in Europe combined with stainless steel appliances.

The stainless steel finish of the LUNA attracted me first to the machine. Then the idea of not having to have this item taking up valuable counter space was the second thing. The final element that turned me on to the LUNA is the fact that it's a pump operated machine for use with the new coffee serving or pod. I've had these in Italy and New York and they are great. Now to have them in the home is nothing short of fantastic.

It was easy to install the stainless steel metal plate into the wall. After deciding where I wanted the machine, I placed the template on the wall, marked the point for the 4 holes, drilled the holes in the wall, inserted the rawlplugs, fixed the stainless metal plate and screwed the plate into the wall. Then it was very easy to hook the espresso machine and fix it to the plate. This process took less than 10 minutes.

I used a liter bottle of Evian mineral water. When I pushed up the function selection lever, the result of the coffee was incredible. Hot, rich extraction, with a beautiful crema. The machine is very quiet in comparison to other pump espresso machines that I've owned. Then I went to froth milk for a cappuccino. When I pushed the function selection lever down, immediately (no down time) powerful steam came out of the machine. I was able to froth the milk in no time. Just for the fun of it, after I frothed the milk, I left the steam valve open and the powerful steam kept coming out for several minutes.

This machine is definitely a five star item. For the quality, performance and result, the machine is an incredible value. My friends have comments that the machhine looks like an object of art.

Pods is definitely the way to go. They require no advance preparation, the coffee is fantastic (I tried the two pods that came with my LUNA machine-I will order more of these pods from amazon.com this week), there is no fuss, no mess.

I highly recommend this machine. It's great not only for homes, but offices, places of busines, bars, concierge levels, etc.

I saw the LUNA in Europe and did some investigation. After learning that it's produced by one of the largest makers of commercial machines for restuarants and bars in Italy, I pursued finding out who is selling the product here.

After speaking to the folks from ESPRESSIONE here in the USA, I shopped to see who had this item and was glad to see it stocked by AMAZON.

I purchased the unit and received the ground coffee adaptor kit. It's designed first for use with pods and it produces a sensational, hot, delicious espresso from the pods. Now after making small change to the brewhead screen, you can use your favorite powder (ground) coffee with the machine and get a super result.

The item has a thermoblock for producing instant steam. I find that it produces immediate, strong, hot, dry steam which creates beautiful frothed or steamed milk.

The design of the machine is killer and it does not take up valuable counter space.

I highly recommend this machine for home or office use.

Why I like coffee:
I first started working as a barista in a coffee-bar 5-years ago, and at that time coffee wasn't my favourite beverage. I loved the smell, but I had never had a really good cup! In order to make the drinks we served perfectly, I had to taste every blend and recepie on the list, and soon I was the espresso-lover I am today.
Why I like the LUNA:
What I find most important about espresso-machines are that they make a good espresso! This is the base for almost all coffee drinks.
If you get a machine that looks good, but doesn't provide the goods, I promise you that it will lead a lonley life.
Luckily, with the LUNA I can now say that I have both a potent brewer, and something that will put a smile on my face when I pass it. In addition to this it's extremely easy to use, and with the pods there is no mess to clean up!
As an accessorie you can also get an extra filter-cup holder for one or two cups of ground-espresso. This is not a must, but a good idea if you like to experiment with different blends.

I've owned a ESPRESSIONE LUNA for two years. It's absolutely sensational and I highly recommend it to others. Makes a killer espresso and with thermoblock for steam, froths milk quickly with powerful dry steam. Use it with pods and extract a beautiful espresso.

Someone from the UK commented that he bought the machine and could not get service. He should contact Fairfax Kitchenware in London for repair suggestions (It's where I shop).

LUNA is a beautiful work of art that creates an excellent espresso product.

As mentioned befor the unit looks great and works well, for a short time anyway. Bought in Feb 2008. First the leak was a few drops down the mounting plate from under the unit then steam pressure decreassed and then leak got worse. Must find service center. Should have listened to past reviews. Since it looks great and makes good espresso why has it been discontinued? Could it be design flaw???
Save your money invest in a reliable machine.

Beautiful european design with brilliant space-saving implementation. How could I resist? I couldn't. I should have. The shots were always good until it started to leak hot water all down the wall and onto my countertop. The steam was always marginal, needing to pause several times during steaming to allow the boiler to recharge. Finally the leaking water and impotent steam forced me to send it in for repair. It has never been the same since. After several weeks it now leaks water worse than ever. The steam is slightly improved but nothing to get excited about. Looking back on the whole experience, I would have to say that the first year was pretty good and then it was down hill ever since. Many a man has been beguiled by beauty that in time fades to remorse and anguish. In the case of the Luna that time frame is about 1 year and the remorse and anguish are in the form of leaking hot water and lackluster froth.

Pros: Love the look, saves space, use of pods is very convenient, makes very good espresso.

Cons: Steamer busted on me after 2 weeks of use. Have to take it in to be serviced now.

As a side note, I would not recommend the espressione pods with this machine. (The "pour" is too quick.) There are better pods out there. I'm still investigating which brands are best or this machine.
