Ladies, here's the book your man needs,
By Bill Rogers (San Diego, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Esquire's Things a Man Should Know About Sex (Paperback)
At first I wasn't exactly flattered when my fiancee got me a how-to book about sex--gee, thanks a lot. But this little volume is as much about humor as it is about "getting it on"--and it is hilarious! Full of smart advice, tidbits, do's and don'ts, and a seriously sexy cover. I'm gonna get a bunch of them for my groomsmen. Meanwhile, for other women who might be thinking about picking this one up for their men, the tone of the instructions is pretty much summed up by the first three words: "It's about her." Ain't that the truth!

a magazine article re-packaged as a slick book,

This slim, shiny volume can slip into the palm of your hand or into your pocket but not on your bookshelf b/c i don't see how you can read it after flipping through it more than once. It has the feel of one of those mini-books you see on display at the local Borders, like The Little Book on Zen. In short, it's a novelty book.I bought this book because I enjoy the show "Queer Eye on the Straight Guy" and was intrigued to find out that Ted Allen (the Food guy)co-wrote this book. But I was disappointed to learn that it is basically a bunch of pithy aphorism-like setnences that is ALWAYS followed by a cheeky joke or sarcastic comment. While amusing to read in a magazine article format (why, like Esquire!) I was looking for something more substantial a la Queer Eye. Y'know, some tips, some ideas with the overall goal of improving your sex life and getting your mojo back on track. Instead, it's a multi-font joke book with "advice" like don't wear black socks in bed. Wacka wacka. Think I'll stick to watching Queer Eye. That seems to do more to help a guy's game than this weak book.

If you want a book on sex ed, this is not it. This book provides witty annecdotes about healthy and fun sex. It's a great book to share with others and laugh outloud. It's mostly about what you already know with a funny twist, and maybe you'll get a few good hints out of it too. I laugh every time I read it, and I've given it as a gift to several friends.

several women joking,
This review is from: Esquire's Things a Man Should Know About Sex (Paperback)
I bought this book thinking that it would shed some light on the subject that I know very little about, but alas you would be very disappointed when it arrives at your door. I read the whole book in about one hour and it left me just one step closer in understanding women. The book is printed in about five fonts and it gives you the impression that each font is the personality of a separate women. So as you read the book you get the sense that you are overhearing girlfriends talk dirty. Although I got a chuckle about every few pages I think that my two-star rating says it all.

A wonderful little book crammed with witty observations and some good advise. A book that doesn't take itself too seriously yet gives some seriously good advise. A great book to share with friends, or to read at the beach.
