Editorial Reviews

Review

"...a must-read for those who wish to learn more about a remarkable human being whose versatility was astounding." -- Dr. Jack G. Dale, chairman of the board, Tweed Foundation, and former president of the American Board of Orthodontics and the Canadian Association of Orthodontists

"Dr. Renfroe...has largely been unknown to the public-until now. This book is long overdue." -- Dr. Richard P. Perry, former president, Illinois State Dental Association

"This book tells the story of how...a man of color can overcome a system of racism." -- Dr. Albert L. Jackson, former president, Lincoln Dental Society

From the Publisher

Dr. Renfroe often broke down barriers for African-Americans. He integrated dental care at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry at a time when virtually no other schools had done so. He was a brilliant hands-on clinical orthodontist whose international reputation enhanced that of the UIC College of Dentistry, where Dr. Renfroe was a faculty member from the 1930s through the 1980s. The UIC College of Dentistry Press is proud to have published Earl Renfroe--A Man of Firsts.
