Product Description

When having guests on the patio, the last thing you want is pesky bees and wasps ruining your gathering. This glass wasp trap is effective and decorative with its clear glass design. The attached metal wire allows you to hang on a branch or hook. Attract the wasps with a sugary liquid; the trap is designed to have them enter through the bottom and not be able to exit. When trap gets too crowded, just take off the cork, empty the dead insects and it's ready to be filled again. Trap measures over five-inch in diameter and over six-inch high.

I have two wasp traps from Crate and Barrell that are shaped like beehives, also out of glass, and they work great. This looks very pretty, but is not able to hold enough liquid in order to work properly. I may try to repurpose as a votive holder. Save your money on this one.

I was skeptical at first but this thing catches not only wasps but flys too. Watching the wasps swim for their lives might seem cruel but if they don't know how to swim they shouldn't go for a dip.

I've seen other wasp traps, some of them cheaper, but bought this one because I liked the shape and preferred the clear glass. When it was delivered, I unpacked it and put in on a table on my patio. Later I went out to put the sugar water in it and found a bee had already been trapped in it! Now I can enjoy sitting out on my patio again!

Well, as far as I can tell, I have caught zero stinging insects using Mountain Dew for bait. The hanging wire is the thinnest wire imaginable, and the cork stopper barely does the job. Otherwise, it is not displeasing in shape, and maybe I'd catch something using different bait. It is awkward to fill, so I never switched bait. I resorted to poison. Hornet problem solved.

We use it mainly to control fruit flies in the home which tend to multiply on ripe fruit and then persist as annoying pests.

The unit itself is made from thick (recycled?) glass. The thin, rust prone steel wire I quickly replaced with a thicker copper wire. It's overpriced IMO but looks better that the jerry rigged fruit fly traps we've used in the past.

It does not work. Barely holds any liquid and the center portion that extends inward barely extends more than a 1/4 inch. I have seen some insects go in, they walk through the water and drop right out of the trap. All summer none caught. Different kind next to it, same sugar water, lots caught.

From the picture, it looks as if this item should have a deeper reservoir than it actually does. The reservoir should be at least an inch deeper. The opening needs to be longer, in more of a funnel shape with the inner part smaller. Wasps can just fly in and out of it as it is.
