This is a great product for the $$. The casting is thick (aprox ¼") and the unit is heavy (aprox 90 lbs.) The only thing it needs is a Fire Pit Grate. I purchased a 19" round one also from amazon ($59 (http://www.amazon.com/Round-Outdoor-Fire-Pit-Grate/dp/B0049ICGYW/ref=aag_m_pw_dp?ie=UTF8&m=A3VCRITOBCN68L)). I use this grate upside down and the legs help to hold the logs in place. The grate also helps the fire to breath and keeps the logs out of the ashes and embers. I did a lot of research on this type of pit and found this to be the best value for the buck (others of this quality are over $600). The bottom is held on with three screws and that is the weakest part of this fire pit (should have been one pc with the bottom welded rather then the use of the screws). I won't need to replace this unless it is stolen from my back yard. Happy Camper !!!

Very attractive, but wished this was higher off the ground...very low to the ground. If the base stand was 16-18" with the bowl on top, it would be better height. Also for an "XL" bowl, I would have preferred 46"-40" wide fire area, but was not able to find any. It is heavy duty, and convenient with drain hole. It is modern looking as well and can easily be moved with two people. I would recommend and rate a 3.5 out of 5. Make sure you put a heavy stone underneath if placing on the ground and do not place on decking or anything that can't take extreme heat Even with a 3" piece of bluestone underneath it burnt our grass...we didn't have this problem with other firepits before.

Quite frankly I'm puzzled as to why this fire bowl is so inexpensive relative to those offered by competitors. It's very large compared to similar bowls I've seen at twice the price, and it's cast iron compared to similarly priced fire pits I've owned which are made out of sheet metal. It's so solidly built that I can barely lift it. I guess that is one drawback ;-). If you like simple modern design then it looks a lot better than anything you can get at your local big box hardware store and again its less than half the price of similar items from design retailers. The only negative thing that I have noticed with it is that the painted surface is very easily scratched (it will come with a number of scratches just from manufacturing and shipping) which isn't at all noticeable unless you leave it out in the rain. If you do all of the scratches will very quickly turn into rust marks. However, that doesn't necessarily bother me. If after a few years of use it has kind of a rusted 'patina' I still think it will look cool. I'm sure more expensive cast iron units from the design stores will do exactly the same. Definitely recommended.

I love this fire bowl. It is so much nicer than the usual suspects. The heavy gauge metal will last forever, the design is elegant, you can build large fires in it, and the fact that it is low distributes the heat and pleasant atmosphere to those sitting around it better than taller units. Worth the money.

This piece is AWESOME - searched long and hard for this type and shape of fire-bowl and am absolutely thrilled with this find. It's a pleasure to find something both well-priced and well-made. If this is your style, definitely buy this bowl!!

This bowl is very heavily built compared to most other firebowls, especially in this price range. The entire firebowl, including the base, is made of solid iron. It's a simple but attractive design. It can take quite a bit of weight, and you can stack a nice pile of logs in this without any problems. I've gotten some very intense fires going in this, and I have enjoyed many an evening sitting on the patio next to this firebowl.

My only negative remark about this bowl is that its ability to take air in from underneath is inadequate. There is a small hole in the bottom of the bowl, which is mainly useful for draining water. It's just not adequate as an air intake if you set the firebowl directly on the ground. I get very good fires going by elevating the whole firebowl slightly on some firebricks, which allows air to flow under the base and up through the drain hole. If you don't want to do that, you'll probably want to buy a grate in order to elevate your logs so you can get more airflow.

Timely delivery.sturdy dished steel fire bow; three bolts fasten top to the bottom. one small water drain hole in the bottom of the fire pit. looks like it should last a few years, rather than the one or two you get from the thinner versions.
