I did the below review several days ago, I'm editing it and lowering the rating I gave it. While working on it I sliced my finger pretty good on the exposed, SHARP, dangerous edges of the copper roof. I removed the roof entirely, figured the birds could cut themselves too.

This just arrived. Another reviewer commented on the size saying they looked like they were for a dwarf species of Wren. I don't know that they are that small, but they are small. I measured the dimensions and compared them to the recommendation for a wren bird house. Generally the out side dimensions appear to match the dimensions on the chart, but the chart is referring to inside dimensions. The item is "Designed in Holland, made in China", maybe it reflects a communications problem with the manufacturer. If I known it was made in China, I made well have not bought it on general principles. It's construction is middle of the road, neither good or having much to complain about.
Here are the dimensions as measured by me and recommended by the chart:
. . . . . . . . . . Actual . . . . . . . . . . . . . Recommended
Floor Size . . . . . 2 7/8" x 2 7/8". . . . . . . . . 4" x 4"
Box Height . . . . . 6 3/4" (including roof space). . 6 to 8"
Entrance Above Floor 3 1/2" . . . . . . . . . . . . . 4 to 6"
Entrance Hole. . . . 15/16" . . . . . . . . . . . . . 1 to 1 1/2"

As you can see it runs under recommendations on all dimensions. Be your own judge before you buy it. Personally, I'll what until spring and see how the birds judge them.

After one No. Cal (no snow) winter, this bird house is destined for the trash. The hinges have rusted shut, the color has faded out completely and the roof is falling off. Might look good at first but it doesn't stand up to time.

It is likely my fault but I was suprised that the bird house was as small as it is. The woodwork seems to be good, but the copper roof was not a very good finish job, and I found that the copper roof make the inside rather warm. Still no birds living in it, but will watch for them.

I was very happy with the service I received as well as the quality itself of the bird houses as I bought two to qualify for free shipping. I have yet to hang these up as I need a couple hangers (hooks) to fasten them to the brick walls of our house. The future inhabitants of these bird houses will think they are living at the Waldorf-Astoria. The hinged door opening on the side of these makes them very nice for future clean out. I purchased this at Amazon as I constantly find the majority of items I buy from Amazon. The quality and service I receive as well as pricing is outstanding at Amazon. I have more future tennants "flocking to our yard" in quest of low cost "housing"!

My wife loves the bird house--nice construction, the copper roof is a plus, and the ability to clean out the innards is necessary. Our experience is that most birds will not nest in a dirty, pre-used house.

Yes, this house is smaller than a breadbox and smaller than a bluebird house, but it's bigger than any of the assorted wren houses scattered about Spud Acres.

Mrs. Spudman and I are impressed by the build of this little house, its rustic looking copper roof, and its pleasing aesthetics. I especially like the hinged side to enable cleaning between nesting seasons. None of our other wren houses have this handy feature.

Our roof has no sharp edges, but there is one tiny edge area that I want to glue down, but probably don't have to. Last winter a wren built a nest and raised babies on our front porch in a half filled salt bag that I never got around to putting away. If she comes back this spring, Mama Wren will have some fancy digs.

I have had this bird house for about 3 years. Every year, we have a family nesting in it. The chicks are so adorable. It also attracts the brids that eat all those pesky bugs! Not to mention that this bird house is beautiful and looks great in the yard. Highly recomended for the price!
