This is a good quality product and seems very sturdy.

Additionally, in one of the sets, they send one wrong corner cap so that my frame is not completely square.

I bought an IKEA Expedite bookshelf plus attached desk - I love it. The only problem is that none of the containers that I got for the cubby holes (13h x 13w x14 long/deep) could accept hanging file folders. Every other frame that I could find was much too long. This one is perfect.

I had no trouble breaking off the extra length of the side bars. In fact, you should know that you can take a hack saw to this and easily shorten it to any length you want - the 14" minimum specified is only if you want to put it together with no tools. You could put together a 3" long frame if you needed to.

By the way, the IKEA box that I use it with is the cheapest they have - the Kasset card-stock box. Fits great.

These hanging folder drawer inserts work very well and are very inexpensive compared with comparable products which is one of the reasons that I ordered them. The design is good and the assembled product is sturdy and functional. However, when they arrived, I found that the inserts (plastic pieces that allow the rails to be assembled with the U-shaped base) are not symetrical. That means that you must be able to insert the rails in a way that provides the proper orientation when the hanging folder insert is assembled. 7 of the 8 rail inserts were correctly oriently, but one was not. That meant I had to do a little home style engineering on the final rail insert in order to get the second drawer insert assembled. Not a big problem and, in the grand scheme of things, didn't keep me from being able to use the inserts, but it is indicative of a quality control problem that potential buyers should be aware of...

The adjustable Actionframe solved my problem at a great price. I had difficulty, however, breaking off the metal side rails for the proper length compared to other models i've used in the past, and required assistance doing it. I would have appreciated a bit more instructional information for that (using the plastic tool enclosed for that purpose was not effective), and especially a mention of the fact that additional space is required for the corner pieces. I recommend a crescent wrench for breaking the rails.

This device is a workplace accident in a box; sharp edges, parts of poor quality. I don't recommend allowing an employee to put it together, especially if shortening the support rods is necessary.

There are eight plastic connectors needed to construct both of the hangers. In my box, two were malformed (the hole for the vertical rods was not a hole but, rather, still filled with hard plastic) and could not be used so only one of the two frames was usable.

As was the case for a number of other reviewers on here, I purchased these to fit hanging files into a piece of IKEA furniture (in my case, the JONAS drawer unit). Upon arrival, I began to understand what people were talking about when they said that they had had trouble sizing these down, but being home for the day, I was without a hacksaw or any pliers strong enough to cut them down. After ruining one set of rails to experimenting (which was fine since I only needed one anyway), I discovered how to size these using the included tools only. In short, after deciding how many "notches" to trim away (I only needed to cut it down to 17" to fit it into my drawer), put the length of the frame on a sturdy surface with only the portion to be removed hanging over the side. Then, hold BOTH included tools in one hand (i.e. such that they're back to back), and fit the to-be-cut length of frame into tools' opening. Then, while securely holding down the length of frame resting on the table, bend the overhanging piece until it gets to 90 degrees. Then, just bend back in the same way and it should snap off cleanly. Using both tools proved to be key here since using just one of the tools to perform this task will lead to snapped plastic. After you're done, be sure to follow the included instructions regarding which plastic clips to put at the end of the frames (the 8 pieces are NOT all interchangeable), and then just be sure to tap them all the way on with a plastic hammer (or the rubber end of a heavy screwdriver, in my case).

All in all, while these frames required some problem solving to use, I can't argue with the quality of the finished product.

I am not at all "handy" yet I was able to hammer, bend, and break the ends to get it to be the size I needed. I put the length across my nightstand, with the part I needed gone sticking over the edge, and hammered that part downward till it bent and then broke off cleanly (holding down the part I wanted to keep with my other hand so it wouldn't bend at all). Great fit, strong, could hold alot of very full files. Good price, too.

I purchased these frames for a pair of file-sized drawers that had no hanging folder frames. The end result is that I now have frames in my drawers, and my hanging folders are working as intended.

However, I did have to do some customizing of this product to reach this state, because the height of these hangar frames is not adjustable, about 1cm taller than they need to be, and about 3mm taller than the height of my drawer. I'll save you the gory details, but the end result involved a hacksaw and a tube of superglue. The upshot is that my drawers now have working hanging folder frames, and that's what I wanted. The journey was rough, but this product helped reach the destination.
